Hello,

I would like to know how does the boarding process works on Costa and on cruises in general since this will be my first cruise! I’ve been reading about it but would appriciate any info you can give me! What is the procedure that happens in the terminal. And regarding the cruise card/ ID on the ship, I’ve been reading that it awaits for you in the cabin and that you have to activate it. As you see, any help and info will be great. Thanks!

Hi,

You get a number when entering the terminal or on the transfer coach if using one. These are then displayed on overhead boards so boarding in theory is by number although usually queues form by the gate everyone try's to board at once. Just take your time get on when you can.

Your cruise card will be in your cabin and is ready to go, if you are paying your final account by credit card, you can register it in the token machines on deck 3 & 5 anytime in the first two days. You can also pay by cash by putting up money at reception.

The process can vary a bit depending on the port and on your arrival time, especially checkin cutoff time. Arrive after the rush has boarded and it can be quite painless, easier than an airport.

Port security can be a bigger hassle than checkin. Be prepared to show your cruise ticket and ID.
