Walking the walls in Dubrovnik

Hi,

We're stopping in Dubrovnik in September and are interested in walking the walls. I've been watching videos and it looks beautiful. Has anyone done this who can give me some tips such as the cost, best time to walk, where to start the walk, etc. Thanks in advance.

Cost is 150 HRK. Local currency or plastic.

Main access is inside the walls near the Pile / Pila Gate, on the left.

Ships transfer buses drop just outside that gate.

There's an opportunity to come down about halfway round but I don't know if you can access from that point.

Most folk recommend walking the walls as early as possible, to avoid the heat of the day, there's not many shady spots up there.

The walls were the highlight of our trip to Dubrovnik. It does get toasty up there, so the earlier the better. Great photo ops!

Allow 1 and 1/2 to 2 hrs to leisurely walk and stop along the way to enjoy the views and maybe stop along the wall for a beverage or an ice cream. Best time to do it is very late afternoon, like 4-ish. We were just there last week and even the last week of May, it was HOT! Have a hat or umbrella to shade you from the sun.

Take lots of water with you- very pricy to buy a bottle on the walls.

Yes, we just did it a week or so ago. It was incredible. Make sure you are super physically fit to be able to do it. We saw lots of older folks really struggling. Drink lots of water and wear very sturdy shoes. It is worth it!!!!!!
