Has anyone been to casinos in Puerto Vallarta by the port?

Across the street from the PV port is a shopping mall. Liverpool is either the name of the anchor store or the name of the mall.  This is visible from the ship.

In December 2017, I went into the mall.  Inside the mall is a casino called E-Motion. Inside the casino, there are several banks of slots; some games I have never seen before, but some are the normal Vegas slots.

They had a selection of the currently popular Chinese-themed slots, such as Five Treasures.  In Vegas, the maximum bet on these is $8.80.  In this casino, that maximum is 880 Pesos.  In Vegas, the Grand prize might be $15,000 - $40,000 [it is a progressive].  When I was in the E-Motion Casino, the Grand prize was 51,000 Pesos, so that was very high by Vegas standards.  [These are the machines where there is a Fu Baby Bonus -- select from twelve icons, until you reveal three icons that match, and that tells you your bonus -- mini, major, ___???___, grand.]

They have a bingo room and a room for table games. Two roulette tables, 1 3-card poker, one table that looks like a Texas hold ‘em variation, another three card poker and three blackjack tables. The only table games open when I was there (Tuesday at 5 PM local time) were one blackjack and one roulette.

The BJ looked like an eight deck shoe, hand shuffled.  Blackjack pays 3 to 2. I  have no idea what the table minimums were, there was no sign, and because I was not going to play, I did not interrupt the game to ask.

They also had a small sports book. About 20 seats. 18 televisions.

There are some other casinos in the area, but this is the only one I scoped out.

I find it interesting that the US Department of State specifically prohibits US Employees from patronizing Adult Clubs and Casinos in Jalisco (this is Puerto Vallarta's State).    This prohibition (for US Government Employees) exists in quite a few Mexican States....but not all.  One can draw their own conclusions as to why.

Thank you for this.  I didn't know they were prohibited from visiting.

We have sooo many casinos in San Diego County that I've never even thought of going to one in PV.

Very interesting that the USA govt. employees cannot play there. Not unusual for casinos to have ties to illegal enterprises.

We like to visit different casinos, such as in the Bahamas.  Mexico is a little more sketchy to me so that's the reason for this post.  I think we'll be skipping the casinos in Mexico.

I would think that the casinos are safe.  There are always risks, but I have not heard of any problems.

In Vegas, there are bad people who watch the Casino Cages for customers cashing out a large amount of chips.  Some of these lucky winners are followed by criminals who want to separate the winners from their cash -- muggings or pickpockets or maybe women who promise one thing but whose real  intention is theft.  I know about this in Vegas because I live here and I hear about some incidents.  I would guess that the same thing goes on at casinos all over the world.
