How do I get to Atlantis from cruise port?

There was a ferry/water taxi just a short walk from the pier, that took us within 1 1/2 blocks from Atlantis for $2. There is a tour guide on board that works for tips that tells you about homes you pass, history, and activities in the area. But now the website say $6 round trip. A nice little trip if you are going to Atlantis anyway.

There are a lot of different boats that "taxi" you to Paradise Island. They are not all part of the same "company" and they do charge different rates. So ask up front (a good idea in any port) before getting on board. Also, some have actual deck seats and others only chairs that can fall over if the waves kick up. Have been to Nassau many times and use the water taxi as it is relaxing compared to the land taxis!

If you don't want to take the water taxi, take a street taxi. YOu go right to the end of the pier and there is a building with all kinds of taxis ready to take you. We paid 5 dollars per person, and they wait until it is full..6-8 passengers. Beware there are no seatbelts and it is a rough ride.

The water taxie only takes you to a shopping area you have to walk thru, several blocks to get to Atlantis. We wanted to go to Atlantis not shop. Best thing is to take a taxie, drops you off right outside. Around $4 to $6 not much, just don't remember. It was no big deal for us.

i spoke with a lady just today that said when they went to nassau they took the water taxi and when they got there they were told they had to pay to get in. yes, to some parts, but certainly not all of it. even have a free beach next to atlantis.

when we went last december we took the taxi van and it actually holds about 10 people (guess all the people's padding is our seat belt) unless you want to leave a nice tip, have the correct money cause they keep what you give them and assume it is a tip.

We took the land taxi to and from in November, it will drop you off directly at Atlantis then you can partake of all of the free parts of the resort. The views of the fishes in the lower level of the lobby are amazing. Some of the fish even seem to stop and pose for pictures.

Me and DW walked (you probably do not want to try this). It is further than we thought. The pics and view from the bridge were great though. We caught a taxi back to the ship for $10.00

I also walked...in sandals...bad idea. Blisters = ouchy. The piano lady sang songs about me and my walk later that night, funny. Took a cab back for 10 bucks.

Atlantis is very cool though, enjoy!:D

We just got back a couple of weks ago from Nassau. When you go through the building at the end of the pier, the taxis are waiting. It really depends on how many are in your group. If you don't want to wait you are going to pay about $12 to $15 for two.We have been the first in a van before and had to sit 15 or 20 minutes while it loads up.So just get the fare settle before you go and remember to ask for a better deal if they keep adding people.Usually around $4 a person.

Do they accept U.S. Currency?

I just want to be sure about something. This ferry is walking distance from the cruise ship? And then again, it is walking distance to Atlantis or close by beaches? In other words, will I need any other transportation?

Thanks for this thread. I'd been considering walking to Atlantis, and wondered about safety. Looking at the aerial photos from Google Earth, it appears to be a 2-mile walk from the cruise port to the front of Atlantis. So, 4 miles roundtrip (plus walking around the facility).

I usually walk 3-4 miles every day at work, so the distance isn't a factor at all. But I'm wondering if it is safe to walk alone? Is there a sidewalk across the bridge? Do you have to pass through any "bad" sections of town?

Our family of 5 plans to take a water taxi to Atlantis. What is there to do there that is free (or low cost)?

Not much.

You are no longer allowed in the lobbies or on the property without some sort of paid pass. Security is everywhere and will turn you awa.

The ONLY areas open to the public is the casino (no kids allowed) and the shops in the 2 older towers (beach and coral towers were built in the 70's and are not what you see in advertising).

The marina village, on the outskirts of the property are public as well. You can pick up something to eat, check out some shops and watch the boats, but this is NOT on the Atlantis property.

You will not have access to even view the aquariums, lagoons, pools, gardens etc, without paying for a pass.

Aquarium passes are $45 pp and allow access to the DIGS aquarium and predator lagoon only. NO access to any other outdoor features.

No. Not really. Most often the crew would carry the passenger onbiard, then have the sit on the bench with others. They gold up the chair and put in on the top deck. , unsecured. Depending on the tide, thus process could be quite complicated. Best to just take a cab.

How long should you allow to get back to the shop from Atlantis by land taxi?

Depends on the time of day. Normally, 20 minutes to port entrance. During rush hour 45 to 1 hr. Rush hour starts 4:30 thru 6:45 pm. You'll need 30 minutes to board, and should be on board 30 minutes before departing. Don't cut it short.
