Car service web pages and taxi fare finder

Taxi Fare Finder is worthless for getting fare estimates between NY and NJ. The only place in NJ that NY City taxis are required to take you to is EWR. If you can find a NY City taxi willing to take you elsewhere in NJ the fare is totally unregulated and the driver can charge whatever fare he can get you to agree to...which could be a lot higher than what the fare theoretically should be based on normal time and distance for the ride. The same is true for taxis from anywhere in NJ but EWR to NY City.

Your JFK to Midtown is slightly off as you don't state the time you are traveling as there are extra fee all depending on time.

Flat rate is $52 plus the $0.50 MTA State Surcharge and $0.30 Improvement Surcharge. Then there is the rush hour $4.50 surcharge 4p to 8p weekdays so your $59 should be $52.80 or $57.30 plus tolls and tips.
