mamkmm2 Posted September 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2018 On Oct 14th our ship will be in Newport. It is a tender port. Our primary activity is we want to walk the 3.5 mile Cliff Walk behind all of the gilded age mansions. However, there does not appear to be an easy way to get from the pier area to either end of the Cliff Walk. Does anyone know the relatively easiest means of getting to Baily’s Beach which is the furtherest end of the Cliff Walk? There is an excursion from our ship but based on the allotted amount time they can’t do very much of the walk. Thank you.
beaucajun Posted September 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Try this link. https://newenglandtravelplanner.com/go/ri/newport/trans/transport_in_newport.html There is a trolley that runs along Bellevue but we didn't use it. We were in Newport a couple of years ago and did the Cliff Walk. Very nice walk. It'll take some time.
chunki-munki Posted September 27, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2018 (edited) Get an Uber to drop you off. It can be a challenging walk, some parts of cliff Walk are quite uneven (the Baileys Beach end especially). You could start at the north end (Memorial Blvd) and walk as far out as you want (or until it becomes too rough). You’ll pass behind several mansions and be able to go down Forty Steps. Cliff Walk is beautiful, one of my favorites in Newport Edited September 27, 2018 by chunki-munki
