Hi, we are spending a few extra days in Florida after our cruise and we were wondering if you can get a rental car at the peir in Ft. Lauderdal?

If not , does anyone know of the closest place to rent one. Thanks for the help.

Arrange it in advance, all the majors will pick you up in their shuttle van at the pier.

There are no car rental agencies "at the pier". You can have any of the majors pick you up there. Budget is the closest, then Alamo. The rest are at the airport. Call the local office to make sure they pick up at the port. ;)

BUDGET on SE 17th St. on the causeway. You can get picked up at the pier and then eventually drop the car at the airport.

BUT, I found that you can get a shuttle from the pier to the airport location. It will save a lot of time.(Because sometimes after the ships get in it gets busy at the causeway location) Just make sure you have reservation. I don't really prefer Budget normally but they do give discounts for AAA members, Sam's Club members and a few others and they are the closet to the pier. Avis do not pick up at the pier, although if you ring them, they will tell you that they have a shuttle pick-up!
