Carry a Bag?

We are trying to figure out what type of bag(s) to carry while we are in port on our upcoming Med. Cruise.....we have considered money belt etc. for cash, ID, etc. But what about umbrellas, bottled water etc??

We thought perhaps carrying some type of clear bag....that would reveal what is inside...not worth stealing!!

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Pretty much every day - whether I'm at home or traveling - I throw everything I need into a Longchamp tote bag. Can buy them in the US, but you can probably pick one up even cheaper in the Mediterranean! Since they're a French brand, you see them all over Europe anyway. They're durable and lined in plastic so they're waterproof. They're of a very thin fabric and can fold up very small so are very convenient for traveling. The downside is there is no organization within the bag so it can get a little jumbled. Another downside can be price, depending on how much you wanted to spend.

When traveling I use a silk around the neck money pouch under my shirt, with ID, CCs,copy of passport and cash. I am not comfortable wearing a money belt around my waist. A little cash goes in the front pocket for expenses. Not enough to worry about if it gets stolen. Lately I have been using a Rick Steves Civita day pack. It is made from ultra-soft microfiber and in a pinch makes a pretty good pillow. Very light and holds a surprising amount of stuff.
