Has anyone ever hit a jackpot on slots on the ships?

Itzkelly, I don't know if you're still around but I agree with you that you have to look at gambling as a form of entertainment like going to Disney. I don't get massages but DH always wants to spring for one of those packages as a treat to me on cruises. I decline and tell him to just hand me the cash for the massage and I'll get it in the casino! I think I may have to visit the FL Indians tomorrow for my Valentine's Day massage! :)

Here's an interesting article on the tax liability on cruise ships..

http://www.cruise-casinos.com/jackpots.htm

As someone stated the odds are set at the factory but generally they are going to start around 75% or so and work their way up to around 97%. Also, the lower the denominination will have the lower odds with the odds increasing as you go from a penny to five dollars or so..You may have a bank of the same machines all set at different odds, trick is to find the one that is the highest. A couple of posters alluded to them winning at the end of the cruise, this has nothing to do it. In my years on these boards I have seen people referring to winning at the beginning of the cruise, end of the cruise, on sea days, all types of combinations. The #1 myth of slot machines is that they can be changed by the cruise line or casino. As stated earlier the machines are set at the factory and with current technology are not changed. Bottom line is they do not have to change them as even at 97% they get 3% back.

I've noticed some responses saying they won 8-900 dollars and while waiting to be paid hit additional jackpots. Isn't jackpots $1,200 and above hand paid while those below are added to your ticket receipt and printed out when you cash out. Do cruise ships do it differently ?

I've been home a week from our Eclipse cruise. I play max on the penny slots and hit the minor and major jackpot on 2 different slots as well as many other prizes. Played those 2 machines the whole 2 weeks and they paid out well until the last couple of days. Also paid wheel of fortune and pulled out $800. Won about $8000 all up. Just as well I win quicker on the slots than my DH looses at Blackjack :D

First time I've actually come out on top on a cruise.

Just back from Mariner.....two of us hit Royal Flushes for $4000 - I also hit 4 aces with kicker on Triple Bonus machine for another $4000 - all within 15 minutes or so. Two daugters hit 3 aces for $2000.......So we did quite well! One daughter ran $100 up to $1200 at blackjack.....

Not to say this was not a "fluke" but it is possible! And I LOVE Video Poker so win or lose I am going to play! It was just nice to have so many large winnings in order to hand out hundred dollar bills to all my family members to keep playing throughout the cruise!

And I am NOT going to tell you how much I actually brought back! haha But I didn't care....it was "winnings" and everyone had a great time!

hi! I do enjoy playing the slot machines on cruises occasionally, but have never really won anything to speak of, and the machines seem rather "tight". I've never seen anyone hit a jackpot or come even close, and am curious if anyone has ever hit...i usually play the quarter machines, max bet (.75) and it's a fun no stress type of entertainment until i decide i've lost enough money. (no more than $100. Total) so...any big winners out there? I'd love to hear your stories!

$560.00 on explorer/july 2010

One night playing BJ I cashed out for $1000. I was at a table of girls that closed down the casino at 2:30am! This was on a Carnival Cruise (don't remember which ship) probably about 14 years ago but had the time of my life. At that time I only played BJ, no slots or VP. Now a days I am really into VP and penny slots but also still love BJ. I live in Dallas so the only casinos are the Indian casinos in OK. I don't play much BJ there as you have to give them .50 cents a hand and I hate that! I will be on The Pearl 10/24 so hopefully I can come back with more money then I went with!

On my February cruise, I hit a royal on 25 cent VP for $1000 and the guy two machines down from me hit a royal playing on Super Times Pay for $8000. My daughter also hit 4 Aces for $500

NCL has some really nice casino action!

Not a jackpot but so close. It ended up paying out $1,300. The jackpot was the BMW on the Conquest.

Another 1/2 inch on the last 7 and I would have won $25,000, I was still happy though.

Our last cruise I won the Hold 'Em tourney, it was only $550 but I was more than happy!

I don't think I'll be able to make the Grand Final though :(

A few years ago I hit a progressive jackpot on NCL GEM on a penny slot $3 maximum for over $10,000. Thats when the ship was new. I understand that on 2 previous cruises the machine was hit for over $9,000. To my knowledge, they now have no progressive slots on the NCL ships

I like the stampede machine with all its bells and whistles or should I say moos. I won $485.00 on the Pride on a quarter machine. When I went back later to the same machine they had "out or order" sign for the rest of the cruise.

That was probably because you "milked" the machine dry!~:D

I was working in the Casino on the Island Princess last October when a lady from Texas hit the 'Megacash' machine for over $480,000

If I remember correctly she put $20 in whist waiting for her husband to finish playing Blackjack (I was dealing to him) and hit the Jackpot on the 2nd spin!!!!

She thought she had only hit the lower jackpot of a few thousand and didn't realise what she won until the Slot Tech pointed it out :)
