Casino odds better on first day of cruise?

I've heard that your odds of winning on the slots, etc. are better on the first day of the cruise due to how the machines are set up. Rumour is that they want word to spread of some good payouts to increase passengers' casino spending for the rest of the cruise.

 

Any idea if this is true?

On our ncl cruise our bunch won over $1600 on first night, on carnival it was last night................:rolleyes: go figure!!!!!!!!!

I think you hear more about wins that happen early because it puts people up. A $400 win on day 6 sometimes doesn't bring a person anywhere near even so they don't brag.

Hubby's won some at BJ and craps (although the odds on Craps suck!), but I've never won a penny ANYWHERE on any ship.....(I do tend to do well in Vegas....coincidence?)

I don't know about that. I can see the rationale behind creating a few big payouts early on that might convince some passengers--who would otherwise not gamble--to give it a try.

 

That said, I doubt they actually do such a thing. It just sounds too urban legend-y.

:)I won $5,000 on carnival Victory about 10 minutes after the casino opened after sailing on a $5.00 slot machine.I did the same thing on Paradise .I won $2,500 on Voyager minutes after the casino opened. I always do well on the last night of cruise.Mind you ,I have also lost much more than I won all in all.

I have been on many tables that were hitting then suddenly shooters started to establish a point then seven out. It happens. Remember, playing craps like other forms of gambling happens to be risky. Grod...Exactly...FREE ODDS have no risk. In theory the seven should show up every 6 rolls but we all have seen abberations of multiple consecutive sevens and the contrary MONSTER roll where the seven does not show for many rolls. CP....Take MAX odds allowed on pass line/come bets to lower the house percentage to an almost even money game and when the big roll appears press the hell out your bets.

When you take single odds you reduce the house edge by 40%. If you take double odds then you reduce the house edge by 17%. When you take triple odds you are taking less than 10% of the house edge. Then if you want to reduce the house edge by another 10% you must increase your odds bet by five times. I hope you are following what I am saying. The more odds you have the less percentage house edge you reduce.

I understand the math but you aren't 100% correct with your analysis of it. For this example I will assume the player is betting the pass line (sorry YO I know that is painful for you). Once the player puts his money on the pass line he is giving the house a certain advantage, 1.41%. If you then take odds on your bet you are being paid true odds. So the house advantage on your odds bet is 0%. Many people claim that odds bets lowers the house edge on the pass line which isn't 100% true. All that it does is lower the house edge on your entire bet. However in actuality you are still getting 1.41% on the line and 0% on the odds.
