Thanks for the great review on Roatan (wellt he whole thing but I was excited for Roatan), someone said that they are putting in a new dock in Roatan - did you see that, did you walk off the boat or have to tender?

We are heading to Mayan Princess for our trip, so thanks so much for the beautiful pictures of the Beach - and the tip on bug spray
dst....we are thinking of doing the MP in Roatan as well....when is your cruise? Be sure to give us a review when you come back

Thanks for straightening me out gang - Belize has the new pier coming. It will be nice when we can just walk off and visit :)

I will certainly do a review on MP when we return, its the least I can do after everything I learn here :D

dst-

From what I understand, Roatan is getting a new dock as well. It will be called Mahogany Bay. It is supposed to be completed in November so unless they are ahead of schedule, this is not the one that Lorena visited. The current one is near Fins & Flipers(old name) and the new one is on the opposite side of the island. I have not been there yet, but this is what I have read on the Roatan board. Forgive me all if I have misunderstood, but you might want to check out the Roatan board to see if we both are thinking the same thing.

I noticed you used the DiCAPac for your camera. I'm thinking of getting one for my camera. Did you have a lot of problems with the cover getting in the picture, as you hinted to in the review? Did it keep your camera totally dry, even underwater? Where did you get it?

Going on the Valor Dec. 6, and am so excited reading your review! Thank you so much for posting your review and pictures! I'm a very visual person, and it helps to imagine myself there!:D

Sorry, I just realized i missed a few pages, and you already answered this. You said you didn't go snorkeling, but could you hold the camera completely underwater, and it stayed dry?

i read your reviews on the port, and saw you did dolphin discovery. Did you hang out at chankanaab park at all afterwards? If so, how were the pool and snorkeling? Thanks!

I'm not fofita01, but I have the same kind of case for my camera. I've used it snorkeling (that's why I bought it), and it worked great ... not a leak. They tell you to test it with paper towels in it in a sink first.
One thing I do to keep the edge thing from happening is to put a paper towel inside the case, kind of under the camera .. it pushes the camera up and forward a bit, keeps it in the right place and you don't get those edges
showing.

We got there early (too early...we were there before the employees) due to someone's confusion about "ship time"---oh, and that our cabbie drove at about 103 mph---...we were told we could walk the grounds and explore...we didn't do that and sat waiting for other people to show up. but it's really good that we waited cuz a friend from on-board, that we weren't aware was coming, showed up and joined us. The "after" time that we could have enjoyed the pool and snorkeling, well......seems as though some folks are more interested in shopping than seeing the sights you paid to see. So, instead of sight-seeing, it was back to the docks for jewelry shopping...WHOOPEE!!!!

Thanks for the tip on the time difference. I think I'll snorkel and hang out at the pool. I can shop at home! Thanks!

What a great idea to put a folded paper towel to prop up/position the camera in place. I'm trying that next time!!!

I'm with you on that one......can I come too????
I Wanna see and do the stuff I missed. :D

Oh, If you drink alcohol, when you get back to the docks,
go to THREE AMIGOS and have a shot of their 'house brand' Tequila.........
They have their own label:rolleyes:
(And if you buy the little ceramic 'chili pepper tequila serving tray' souvenir, $10.00, it includes a "free shot of tequila".)
MMMmmmmmmmm. Smoothest I've ever had.

Thanks for your info! It really helps to know that it works. Wouldn't want to ruin my camera! And thanks for the paper towel tip. I will definitely do that! Great review, too. Good luck with the surgery. I just had ACL reconstruction a month ago, and am still working on getting it back to normal. Hopefully it will be by Dec. 5, cause that's when when leave to go on the Valor!

Renee - I was very skeptical about putting my camera in the pouch! I originally bought it thinking I'd use my "nice camera" but even though I tested it with a piece of paper in it, and held it underwater for like 5 minutes... NO LEAK... I still ended up using my "beach/old camera."

In retrospect, I know now that I will be fine... or rather, my camera will be fine.

I hope you are all recovered by your sailing time.
