flintg Posted October 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2009 For us dummy newcomers: Is there a list of abbreviations used anywhere on these forums? While you old timers know what you are talking about it is frustrating trying to understand what is being said when initials are used unless one knows their meaning! For example CB referring to a ship - what ship? Room categories, etc. Most I have figured out after reading hundreds of posts but a list would be helpful!:)
paul929207 Posted October 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2009 I don't know of a list of abbreviations anywhere. CB is the Caribbean Princess. Princess uses a 2 character code for all their ships.
TwinCruiserMom Posted October 8, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2009 Here is a thread that has posts about a lot of different abbreviations used on the boards including the ship's abbreviations: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=943020&highlight=abbreviations The stateroom categories you see people writing about come from the Princess site in the deck plans area. Click on a particular deck, say Caribe, and down below the map there are the category lists of which rooms are on that floor. (CB -for example has interior KK and J, balcony BB and BA, and suite PS on Caribe) Generally, mini suites start with the letter A and the second letter is A-E. Balconies start with the letter B with the second letter A-G. And so on. Good luck!

Cruisin' Chick Posted October 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2009 If you're trying to figure out the categories for cabins, you can check out a deck plan for the ship you're considering.
Rare jpalbny Posted October 9, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2009 Cruise critic has a list of acronyms in their FAQ. Here is a link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_reading_posting#faq_acronyms If the link doesn't work go to FAQ, then search for "acronyms" and it's the first (only) link that pops up.
