Wheel o Fortune machines on Carnival

Hey all- First time posting in this section, and I found the craps and blackjack threads to be very interesting. I normally play only table games (mainly craps and blackjack) BUT my guilty pleasure is throwing money at a wheel of fortune slot every once in a while. I have seemed to do fairly well at them in Vegas and noticed them in the Carnival Casinos.

Unfortunately they are $1 machines on the ships and I just can't bring myself to throw $3 a pull on a slot machine. So what's my question? Well, on land the progressive on a $1 machine is normally huge (pushing or at a million bucks) and a quarter machine is $250,000 or so. I noticed that on each cruise I go on that these machine are an even $20,000 and they don't seem to change. Is this because they are not connected into the progressive network that tracks the current prize? Or simply the casino limiting what they have to pay? Or a combination of both of these reasons. Seems to me that having a miracle occur and hitting the jackpot would be a mixing feeling event- Yes, you won 20 grand, but you also "used up" your chance a million bucks...

Has anyone won anything big on a cruise WOF slot? Or even heard of someone hitting the $20K?

The "progressives" on a ship aren't like those in Vegas.....I don't think they're even "linked" cruiseline-wide.... and yes, the cruiseline WILL limit their payouts----they'd go broke if they had to pay out millions! It's simply not the same gambling on a ship as it is on land!
