Theaters on board?

I have heard there are screenig rooms on board most ships. Does anyone know if there is one on the Voyager of the Seas? And do they play new movies like still in theaters?

No, they don't play movies still in theaters. Haven't been on the Voyager, but there's been screening rooms in the other 2 Voyager class ships I've been on. No popcorn or snacks are served.

Most movies they show already are on DVD in most cases. Radiance class ships have a dedicated theatre. The Freedom also has a screening room similarly situated as on the Voyager.

Many times the movies will be the same ones currently being shown on HBO, Showtime, or perhaps on your flight . They aren't first run but they are frequently movies released within the past 12 months. Many of the movies shown in the cinema or the screening room will also be available on your stateroom TV. Check out the cinema schedule in your Cruise Compass, and check your TV for the channel and times for movies that will be shown that day.:)

That is the only time in our busy schedule that we take time to go to the movies. So we don't realize if it has been released earlier or not. I do love the screening rooms on board the ship.

I am cruising the Mariner soon. How large is the screen and how many people will the screening room hold?

If it is the same as the Voyager I would give it a WAG of somewhere around 8 to 10 ft diagonal and maybe seats 30.

For Voyager class ships, don't think theater ... think room with a small screen and a digital projector. I stepped in once on Voyager and thought I was attending a board room meeting.
