Kodak or Olympus Digital Cameras?

Recommended Posts

I bought a Kodak Easy Share Digital and I LOVE it. Can't tell you about the Olympus.

I have a Kodak EasyShare. I love the software that comes with it, and uploading images is easy with the camera dock.

Tu917 - Of those two choices neither one. Seriously though either one should work fine for you. Overall Olympus has a better lens.

If you are into photography, choose the Canon's. They have more fine control of camera settings, and other items to fine tune your shots. If you are not, get the Kodak.

I am into photography myself, but I bought the Kodak. I bought one with the Schneider lens (high quality) to ensure good photos, but decided that digital photography was difficult enough by itself, and that I would use my other cameras to satisfy my photo geek activities, saving the digital for the rest of the family to enjoy. A side benefit is that with the Kodak, my family can shoot a picture, save, edit, email and print, all without getting me involved!!!

The Kodak's are much much easier to use than the Canon's, especially if you purchase the camera dock and use the Easyshare software (highly recommended). I had a Sony digital before, and my wife just could not work out all the steps to get the card out, open the card on the PC, transfer the pictures, edit them and then save them. Then she could not get the picture she wanted into the email to send to friends. With Kodak, she pushes a button, the pics show on the screen, she selects the ones she likes and clicks "Email", choosed the address, and off the go.

Very simple. Get the Kodak

Well, I have a Canon A80, and I just returned from my 7-day cruise and it took amazing photos!! I can't wait to see the prints!

I had an Olympus before and it was great, too.

I just bought the Olympus Stylus 410. I love it. Super easy to operate. It is small enough to fit in your pocket and I love the weatherproof feature. I looked at the Canon but the Olympus was a lot nicer to hold and much lighter too!

The Kodak Easy Share software makes the use of the camera for options after taking the picture the best camera on the market. I purchased and Olympus first and quite liked the camera but was turned off by having to use athird party photo software program.Very difficult to use.I returned it and am now using my second Kodak Camera. I love the Photo Dock to get instant glossy 4X6 pics instantly also.

Canons are consistantly rated high for over-all quality....and there is one out there that matches your needs.

I own a SureShot S-45 and I love it. I am NOT a photo geek, in fact I rather dislike that I am the one in the family who gets stuck with this job all the time. This camera makes my job much easier. As for software, I think the Canon software was very nice, but I have moved on to a more comprehensive software, PaintShop Photo Album.

Does either Kodak or Olympus have a good digital camera with a good zoom lense? I currently have a Canon S-50, which I love, but it doesn't zoom very good. Thanks.

I have a Kodak DX4530 that takes up to 5 mp. with the dock and I love it. If you go into Kodak's website you can get an idea of what they offer. I am partial to Kodak products, being from Rochester, NY, home for Kodak and my husband is a retiree, daughter and son in law work there. All things aside, check out their website and you might find what you are looking for.

Hands down Olympus over Kodak. olympus is consistently rated higher by PCWorld magazine in trials. Totally disagree with Folgy. the software was easy to use and the pictures are beautiful.

LeeLee: Olympus has several models with 10x optical zooms.

I have a Canon CoolPix 4300, and it is fantastic, the best digital camera I have ever owned, and look forward to getting a G3. Before this (and I still own it and use it all the time) I had an Olympus C-74 Ultra Zoom, with the 6.3 to 63 mm zoom. It takes the best high zoom digital pics I have ever seen from a point and shoot.

As far as Folgy and the third party software go, I prefer using Adobe Photoshop over any bundled software, so I really can't judge which one is better.

Kodak! I have the Kodak Easy Share CX6230 and I am amazed at what I can do with it! I also have its printer dock. I took both on our 5 day cruise, the whole system is easy to set up & doesn't need a lot of space to set up. Even when we were in motion, I could take amazing pictures. I have one of the Goodyear blimp in Pompano Beach, that I took through the car window, as we were moving. Also with the printer dock, I was able to take pictures of my stateroom attendant Mathew & print him a copy. I also took pictures of our dining room waiter & assistant waiter and gave them their pictures. The assistant waiter, Evern is from Turkey, and had only been away from home 6 weeks, he was glad to have the picture to send home to his family!
Happy cruising!

I have one of each and like them both for different reasons. The Olympus I little the small size and the zoom better. Kodak gotten love that docking station!!!! So easy to download and organize pictures, also like how the dockinmg station recharges batteries.

I take both with me on my cruises. can't decide on one.

I,too was looking for a new camera awhile back and got my advice on these boards...........thanks JB~~You were most helpful.......

Anyway,we wound up with a Kodak DX6490........easy to use and the docking station is great for keeping it charged up.....and it had one of the bigger LCD screens(2.2 in).........and 10X zoom..........in fact, everything about it appealed to us.....

There you go TU917, now I am sure you have your answer

Seriously, after much thought and deliberation, I bought the Olympus 410 in St. Thomas on our last cruise.

After a quick glance at the instruction manual, I started shooting (quality) pics. I love it for the same reasons emilymad listed.
