NorthTXRanchers Posted August 13, 2011 #51 Share Posted August 13, 2011 I know I am cruising when I hear the "ding" of my seapass being checked for the first time! Like! :D
finsup01 Posted August 18, 2011 #52 Share Posted August 18, 2011 When my wife and I click our glasses and say the words, "here's looking at you kid" before drinking our first drinks at the "bar at the back of the boat"!

Jerseyroyal Posted January 30, 2012 #54 Share Posted January 30, 2012 I totally agree - it's a truly magical feeling and no matter how many times we experience it the magic remains!
olemissreb Posted January 30, 2012 #55 Share Posted January 30, 2012 I know I'm cruising when I walk across the gangway and hear my card "bing" and I'm actually on the ship (drinking my complimentary glass of champagne if I'm on Celebrity). Then I'm cruising and everything magically disappears! 2013 can't get here soon enough - ALASKA! Can't wait!
mr green Posted January 30, 2012 #56 Share Posted January 30, 2012 When I tell the occasional 'helper' that 'I can find my way to our new cabin,' probably in a shorter time.;) john
wrigley80 Posted January 30, 2012 #57 Share Posted January 30, 2012 I know I am officially on a cruise vacation once I start to walk up the Gangway. When I step foot on the ship for the first time and see the Atrium Lobby with all the light and colors. No matter how many cruises I have been on nothing ever beats that feeling. I LOVE CARNIVAL CRUISES
wrigley80 Posted January 30, 2012 #58 Share Posted January 30, 2012 I cross the threshold between ramp and cruise ship.... Once my feet hit the ship, I never look back. This is my favorite moment too
Rare Smokeyham Posted February 4, 2012 #59 Share Posted February 4, 2012 For me, it is the first time I hear the "ding-dong" of the public address system, and the Cruise Director says "Welcome aboard the beautiful......" then I KNOW the cruise has started! :)

LandlockedCruiser01 Posted June 30, 2013 #64 Share Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) When I'm walking around from one location to another, and feel that unbelievably soothing sensation of the ship rocking under my feet, and hear a dull, relaxing hum of the ship's engines. When I'm standing at the aft end of the open deck, and see the wakes trail behind the ship, and hear the waves splash against the hull. I just can't imagine a more relaxing sight than that. Hyperspace0 Posted September 16, 2013 #66 Share Posted September 16, 2013 I know I'm cruising when the muster drill starts, because I know right after that it's nothing but pure relaxation for the next few days.
C&F Posted September 17, 2013 #67 Share Posted September 17, 2013 These are all great! My first few cruises were out of NYC. The minute we sailed under the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge made me realize I was on a cruise! Many great memories of that! Gunner22aa Posted September 17, 2013 #68 Share Posted September 17, 2013 ... we step out on the suite balcony, crack a good bottle of red wine and sit down to relax and enjoy the sail away.
WLHyatt Posted December 21, 2013 #69 Share Posted December 21, 2013 Since we sail from Nola, I would have to say turning in the river and passing the St Louis Cathedral. The next big moment is the few minutes away from the mouth of the Mississippi when the muddy water fades and you start seeing waves and the water changes. You can tell you are in salt water by looking at it even at night.

MiamiSpartan Posted December 23, 2013 #71 Share Posted December 23, 2013 Actually the night before!! We have this tradition of either hosting a sail away party at our home, or being invited to friends the night prior to leaving... It kind of kicks off our trip...!
