hansol1966 Posted November 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2009 My father and my wifes father were both in the Parachute Regiment (3Para-2Para) and have since passed away so it is a poignant time of the year for us. God Bless you all. Fred & Sian.

BigMac1953 Posted November 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2009 My son Fraser, the army captain, had the honour of marching alongside the Royal Armoured Corps Veterans on Sunday at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. He said that is was a most moving experience but at the same time gave him an immense feeling of pride. Thanks go the the veterans that marched, but also to the spectators for their support and sentiments. Natuarally our thanks and appreciation also go to those who didn't march. Underwatr Posted November 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Thanks also to Cunard for their continued military onboard credit program and for extending it to cover just about all veterans (US, UK Canada, Australia, NZ). The program summary uses the word "retired" but the fine print shows that most honorably discharged veterans will qualify.

candle in the wind Posted November 11, 2016 #13 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Well said. It's very good of Cunard to offer something tangible. I agree, and in a perfect world all veterans and their families could get a break on Cunard.
BklynBoy8 Posted November 12, 2016 #14 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Celebrating Life Today! Today is My Father's Second Year Celebrating Veteran's Day in Heaven. We Miss Him very much and Hope to one day rejoin him in Heaven. He was a very dedicated cruiser on many ships and many lines. So happy many ships in the past had Reunions of Veteran's on a cruises to have veterans over a drink or cordials to rehash their experiences. Being a Veteran was a special honor he enjoyed. Happy Veteran's Day to all still with us and also to those that have departed from this life..
