elou Posted November 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Are the main areas on the Crown warm, cold or just right (sound like goldilocks and the 3 bears). Just wondering what to wear (pack) while on ship. Last ship was very warm (Island). Thanks.
tmitchell82 Posted November 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2009 We just got off the Crown the other week. Never noticed it being very cold on the ship inside. Seemed about just right to me. Wore short sleve shirts to dinner and to the various entertainment venues and never felt cold. Tim
regnig Posted November 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Some of the public areas can seem chilly particularly if you have gotten a dose of sun during the day. I always bring one light weight jacket or sweater type of thing "just in case".
TwinCruiserMom Posted November 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2009 I have been on several ships in the Caribbean, including the Crown and I always pack one dressy sweater for the dining rooms as you just never know if it will be cold. There is nothing worse than shivering through your dinner. Coming from Ohio, I wear a light track jacket or sweatshirt on the plane and use that onboard for Movies under the Stars (it gets breezy some nights) or when sitting on the balcony at night. Otherwise, for the Crown, just pack lots of short sleeved outfits as the temperature is fairly moderate onboard. I do not recall it ever being overly warm in any indoor location. Have a great cruise! jimpod Posted November 22, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2009 We were on the Crown in September (Transatlantic) and found the public areas (except the MDR) chilly. At times it was difficult to find somewhere to sit where there wasn't a cold draught. I think a lot of people found it the same as most people sitting in these areas tended to have jumpers, cardigans etc on.
caber Posted November 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted November 22, 2009 We have come off Crown after a B2B starting in Quebec and finishing after a week in the Caribbean. During the colder cruise we complained about the cold in the public rooms. It seemed to improve later on. Skywalkers usually feels cooler than the rest but on the whole it was ok in the Caribbean. lovevacadays Posted November 23, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 23, 2009 Just got off the Crown yesterday and found the interior temperatures to be pretty moderate. I was ok with either short or longer sleeves. Always good to bring a light sweater or jacket though.
Pam in CA Posted November 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2009 I always bring a light wrap to carry around with me. During the day, I often wear a lightweight shirt over a t-shirt, even in the tropics. If you are among the first to arrive in the dining room, lounge, Princess theater, etc., it can be chilly. Once it fills up, it's warmer but those first few minutes can be cool. They seem to over-compensate with the A/C before the public areas fill so people aren't too warm when they do fill up. gardening_diva Posted November 23, 2009 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2009 Like chloedmum we got off Crown yesterday. We didn't find any of the areas chilly, including the theatre. On Golden/Grand I have found the large areas cold, but not on Crown. In fact, some areas of the MDR were IMHO too warm. (We avoided 2nd formal night because of this). SomeBeach Posted November 23, 2009 #10 Share Posted November 23, 2009 You're pretty much experiencing what Goldilocks encountered... too warm, too cool, just right. What I noticed on the Crown was drafts from the ventilation system, especially in the DR. If you don't want to chance a chill, take a lightweight wrap that will work with your evening wear. They take up very little room and don't add excess weight to your luggage.
Minoushka Posted November 23, 2009 #11 Share Posted November 23, 2009 ALWAYS have a jogging suit and hoodie in your suitcase .I find some seadays chilly or early mornings Bring a pashmina or shawl for evenings ...they can get cool ...I buy a lot on ships I use the hoodie in the Casino ..it sometimes gets cool I agree with too much sun can make you chilled at night Some ships can be COLD in the evening ..apparently not this one but I go prepared short or sleeveless outfits with shawl Enjoy Michele
elou Posted November 23, 2009 Author #12 Share Posted November 23, 2009 Trying to pack as little as possible (ha-ha). Did not want to take too many sleeveless shirts and shorts for daytime aboard the ship, if short sleeves would do. Again, thanks.
