Thanks Mach. I will cancel from Bon Voyage and order on board. I am fine with waiting until we are in international waters. I just don't want to wait unilt the next evening to get it. I am not sure we can polish off a liter in 4 nights let alone 3.

Thanks!

Please let me know if there's anything I can do for y'all!!!

Please let John know we'all want him in Texas!

I really do hope his schedule allows him to be on the Conquest, I know how much fun he can be, as we sailed with him on a B2B on Triumph several years ago.

Sadly, the AMAZING Chef's Table is only available on our Carnival Dream and the Carnival Ecstasy at the moment.

Guess we'll just have to book an evening in the Point for this cruise - then maybe book trip on Dream so we can enjoy the Chef's Table experience. Thanks for the feedback.

Hope we can join you for a CRAZIES sometime soon.

Ol' John has confirmed that he will be the CD on the Conquest again! I don't recall when he's coming back to us, but it's coming up!

He'll be on the Conquest next month. I think this will be his first time on the Conquest. Current plan has him on board for about 5 weeks but that's ALWAYS subject to change.

It'll be great to see him again. I'm dragging him off the ship for lunch...

Hey Mach,

Seems you had a grand time on your cruise, as we did on ours. Welcome Home!

I thought I remember reading somewhere that all of the Carnival ships have sushi bars with sushi available in the evening. (Maybe I read all have sushi.) Do you know?

I looked on the Carnival site and it only lists a handful of ships that have it prior to dinner.

It also indicates the Victory does not have it prior to dinner in the evening but during lunch on the Lido.

When we were on the Victory they had a "stand alone" sushi bar near the casino bar and we had sushi before dinner every evening.

Unless they did away with the sushi bar on the Victory....

Could you see if you could talk to some of the beards / beg him on his blog thingie and get him to stay on the Conquest longer? I can't quite make things work to cruise again in that short of a time frame.

According to the Carnival Travel Agent website there is a sushi bar on every ship.

We were on the Victory in October and they had a sushi bar by the casino that was open most nights. There was a charge for the sushi, just like the bake shop/coffee shop close by. We don't eat sushi so I'm not sure how much it was but there were people complaining because it wasn't free.

When we were on the Victory the sushi was free, but the saki was not. Some folks had mis-read the sign and thought they had to pay for sushi.

That might be the case here...

Should be on all ships... from Carnival:

Sushi Bar

Ships: All

The Sushi Bar located on the Promenade Desk is open nightly prior to the dinner hours. Sake is available at a nominal cost.

If I could do that I could also probably have the Conquest pick us up in the San Antonio River rather having to drive to Galveston...

Thanks Mach, that's what I thought! Why can't Carnival get their site to be accurate?

This is from the FAQ's on their site:

Mach,

First let me apologize for what I am about to ask. It might have been asked before.

With all of the threads regarding passports you see all kinds of things. One of the things I have read in more than one place.

Ships have a protocol they follow if you would not happen to return from a port. In that security will open the cabin safe looking for in particular travel documents i.e. passports and then pass them along to the port agent.

Any cruise I have ever been on the question of carrying passports is asked at the port talks and 100% of the time the ship's CD response has been to leave them on board.

Is this true on Carnival?

Thanks!

The only defense I can offer is that it's a large web site with a lot of text. Items get overlooked as changes occur and fail to get updated...

Oddly enough... you can still find items that are no longer listed on the site in the FAQs or where ever by googling the question and following the link...

Yep... it's the same. During the ports of call briefing the cruise director mentions leaving passports on board.

Of course, all you need is a photo ID, your Sail & Sign card and... most important... not miss the ship.

When we were on the Ecstasy about 10 days ago I was at the Purser's Desk to leave a note for the Cruise Director. In front of me was a couple who failed to get back on board in time for sail away from Progreso. Fortunately for them the Triumph was in port with us and they hitched a ride to our next port... Cozumel!!!

Just want to confirm:

If we are left behind and there are no other Carnival ship they will find our Passports and leave them at the port?

Thanks!

They will TRY to find your documents and leave them with a shore side agent... there is no guarantee...

:)

Do not care for sushi. Could you ask them to cook it for me?

Perhaps in a letter to John.

Sorry had no choice but to say this. LOL.

Carnival sushi isn't raw... it's partially steamed prior to being taken to the sushi station!!!

:D

When we were on the Victory some of the sushi was made with cooked fish. California Rolls are made with cooked crab. They also had sushi made with smoked salmon (delicious) and some made with a cooked shrimp as well.

Just off the Glory and the fish seemed completely raw with the exception of California rolls and a sushi made with a cooked shrimp. Most of the sushi was made without raw fish in the roll and then topped with the raw fish when served, so (I think) all nights there was a non raw fish option.

If any of the fish (other than shrimp) were steamed I would have to say that those fish swam through the steamer at record speed. All the "raw" fish was completely translucent and did not appear to be partially cooked.

Sushi may vary ship to ship as many things do, but there may be options if you don't care for raw fish.

My sister enjoyed sushi with us most nights but never ate the raw fish...

I'm sorry Hot Mach, I don't care what the cds say on board. I will never be in a foreign country without my passport. To many things could go wrong and you want America to help you. If you miss the ship, you need it to get home. If you are accused of a crime, you want help from your home country. If you're sick or hurt you want them to know you're American. Thanks, Lynda

That certainly is your option but there's a heck of a black market in stolen US passports.

Your picture ID and Sail and Sign are understood to be proof of your nationality in any port that Carnival visits.

If you feel more comfortable with taking your passport with you then by all means do so!!

:)
