bluehenfan Posted December 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2009 On my last Carnival cruise I saw a woman walk into the casino with a lg. ziplock bag full of quarters. I was too busy losing money at my slot machine to pay a lot of attention but I think she used those quarters in a slot machine. I know all about using your S&S card in the casino slot machines and I put enough bills in to know you can use paper money, but can you also play the old fashion way with quarters? I am taking my aunt on the Pride in Jan. and she asked if she could use the quarters she's been saving in the slot machines. Thank you for your help. beachgalMA Posted December 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I was on the Pride this past June. I do not recall being able to use coins. All I ever saw were machines taking dollar bills. Unless something has changed in the past 6 months, the casino did not use coins in the slots.
CharlesKru Posted December 16, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2009 At the very least, you should be able to take the quarters to the cage and have them give you bills. While converting my match play receipts to vouchers I saw a woman bring a lot of quarters to the cage to convert. They did not complain, just started counting them. vacruizer Posted December 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Have her cash them in ahead of time for bills she can use. Here's my embarrassing story. :o Here in VA we don't have casinos and I'd never even been to one before my first cruise. So I loaded up my shoulder bag with the usual - camera, wallet, travel docs, jewelry, meds...... and about $50 in rolled change for the slot machines. Including nickels and pennies for the penny/nickel slots I'd heard about. That bag was HEAVY! Going through airport security all the change caused the TSA to pull me aside and hand search my bag. The little old TSA guy asked me why I was traveling with so much rolled change. "For the slot machines on our cruise" I told him. He looked at me funny, started to chuckle and said, "Honey, don't you know those machines take dollar bills?" :p Which obviously I didn't know. If I remember correctly, they only take bills now and no coins at all.
bluehenfan Posted December 17, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted December 17, 2009 Will just take my aunt to the coin conversion machine at the grocery store so she can turn all those quarters into cash. I just could have sworn that woman was pumping those quarters into that slot machine, but it was just a quick glance now and then. Thanks for the responses. iamsteph Posted December 17, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 17, 2009 I think there was only one machine that took quarters, and that was the one where you put in the quarter and it shoots it up and there are these little paddles pushing back and forth. You try and get your quarter to land so that the paddles push more quarters off the ledge.
