Dice Setting

Oh BS, where do you come up with these ideas, the employee's of the casino couldn't care less.

I agree with you...just hit the back wall with the dice...thats all the casino wants and there are no problems. Dice setting/sharp shooters etc are all BS....NOT a shooter in the world CAN HIT THE BACK WALL and stick a particular point. Casinos dislike SLOW dice setters for one reason only...they slow the game down which cuts into the overall house percentage by having fewer decisions.

CP didn't say the employees would try to rattle the shooter, CP said the casino would try to rattle the shooter. The one near San Diego did exactly that today, just before 11am. Everyone thought it was an earthquake, but we all knew better.

LMFAO that's to funny.

Hopefully i didn't miss the answer, but why don't they really want you to tap the dice?

Obviously CP doesn't know and now you've peaked my interest.

LOL....The casino wants to keep their EDGE. Seriously, most casinos will let you tap dice lightly....they will not allow you to slam them hard to possibly cause "gaffed" dice which might make the normally sharp edges rounded and/or smoothed and possibly give a shooter an unfair advantage.

Exactly, rounding the edges of a die is an old way of cheating, done right you can pretty much set the dice to whatever number you want, hence why casinos don't want the die being hit on the table.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO jetwet1: Since you have to roll the dice across the craps table, and hit a back wall. Sometimes hitting other chips as well. You don't have any control of the dice once they leave your hands anyway. Try rolling the dice and calling out what number they will hit. Not too successful. Remember, you only have one chance in 36 possible combinations to be correct. What difference does it make?

If you slam the dice HARD on the table you could possibly chip and/or smooth the sharp edges. A good dice mechanic could alter the even number edges on the dice to affect a random roll.....last time I heard you can't SEVEN OUT with All EVEN numbers showing.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO LSTEFFA: You might not be able to seven out with even numbers showing, however, once again: If you have to throw the dice across a table say ten to fourteen feet long, hit a back wall with pips to assure a random roll, how can someone control what number is coming up? Try rolling dice and calling out the roll. Once again you only have a 1 in 36 chance of being correct.

CP....Now play CLOSE attention. I never said that you can stick a particular number. I said by using gaffed dice a good mechanic can possibly keep the dice in a favorable sequence like even numbers. BTW...the true odds of calling the next number rolled is 35:1 for a 2-12 and all the hardways and 17:1 for all other combinations.

Chill out old-timer before you have a stroke. As I said I don't think you can roll ONE PARTICULAR NUMBER @ will but a good dice mechanic using gaffed dice with rounded/shaved edges could keep the dice in a FAVORABLE RANGE such as EVEN numbers to his obvious advantage.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO LSTEFFA: First I am trying to control myself. I am lmao. I don't have to worry about a stroke. You do say some of the dumbest things.

Second, I don't see how rolling dice across a table, hitting a back wall with pyrimids on them, many rollers could control the dice so only even numbers can come out. Somehow that arguement seems something like only Rod Serling could come up with. Remember, the dice have to transverse the table which has distances of between eight and fourteen feet. The dice also have a habit of besides rolling, pitching.

Hang on though, using that argument, doesn't it mean that your whole "I can control the dice by spending as long as I want setting them" argument is BS ?????

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Jetwet1: I never said I can control the dice. In fact, my arguement to the casino personnel is, "I don't have any more control over the dice once they leave my hand than you do."

I do set the dice. I don't like to have the number seven showing anywhere. In many casinos they don't like it and try to hurry me or try to get me flustered. I just use as much time as I need. I've seen casino personnel try to hurry me and let some guy take his sweet time then bring the dice to his mouth so he could kiss the dice. What is fair is fair. Can't let one guy take his time and not another.

They let them kiss the dice !!!!!

Yuck, that's just nasty.

I agree!!!

I have found that lining up the serial numbers and rotating forward one side has done good for rolling 7's. Otherwise I take the dice has the stickman gives them to me and try to stick them.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO jetwet1: This one casino in Atlantic City I used to play in allowed a player to kiss the dice. I wouldn't even think about lifting the dice that far off the table. He also took more time than me to roll the dice. They complained to me I took too long to roll the dice. Go figure.

He was probably playing more money than you.

As I have said on here before "everyone gets treated the same, depending on how much they bet"

But it's still gross, I actually had to have a talk with a guy last night that thought he could lick the dice............

He ended up leaving the casino.... With an escort.

Look dice setting is no new idea. The powers to be in the casino industry ran very extensive trials consisting of thousands of attempts by various "dice setters" and came to the conclusion that the outcome of which side a 6 sided plastic cube stops on after being thrown the length of a craps table then bouncing off of a bunch of little pyramids can not be controlled. Thus the reason they don't care if you try.In fact they rake in millions from people who do try.As far as tapping the dice. The dice on a craps table are tested for perfect balance before being put into play.If one die were to get chipped even a tiny bit it would not meet the allowed specs for balance.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Evergladesgator: The Casino will try to rattle a shooter.

How true How true

The casino employees may not GAS but the CASINO sure as hell does and when the boxman or pit boss says rattle em . The employees sure as hell will do their best.

You guys are to funny (i'm being nice) let's see, who in the casino wants to rattle a player.

The dealer ? er no, they are looking for ways to extract the most amount of tips from you before you lose your bank roll.

The boxman (when you can find one) ? nope, they are just trying to get through the night without any problems.

The floor person ? Nope, they couldn't care less, it's not their money, they don't get bonus checks and the new waitress look good.

The Pit boss ? Nope, your small time, they are more worried about the guy playing serious money and making sure he is happy, also he is next in line for the back up position so he doesn't need someone complaining about him roughing up a player.

The back-up ? Nope, they are busy actually running the casino, if someone does get it into their head to tell them that there is a dice setter on the game then they will simply say are the dice hitting the back wall?", "yes", "then why the hell are you bothering me with this trivial s**t " and when it comes round to doing the annual performance review they will remember this and the persons raise will not be that great.

The shift boss, they really couldn't care less, the only way they would even find out about it is if the player is trying to slide the dice and has been thrown out by the back up.

Seriously people, the casino companies have made it so that unless you are cheating the employees couldn't care less.

Except.......

If your taking 5 minutes to set the dice, then the floor will say something to the box who will explain the situation to the player and the stickman, the dealers will then try to get the game moving.

On top of that, if the eye happens to be watching the game the shift managers pager will go off, he will go up and watch the game from there, he will then page the back up who will explain to the floor person that the game needs to get moving. Why, because s**t rolls downhill, less rolls means less profit means lower bonus checks and less tips means unhappy bosses and dealers.

Now saying that, in running a major Las Vegas strip resort, I had that happen once and in that case I explained to the people in the eye that seeing as the person in question was the only player on the game, I couldn't care less how long it took him to shot.

Setting the dice is part of the game, just don't take an hour to do it and the casino employees won't care.
