sshuttle Posted May 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2004 I'm leaving in two days so I'm down to the nitty gritty. I've been told to bring a pair of pants for my son to ice skate in. Is it really cold in there? Should I bring sweat pants or jeans? Sorry, I'm a Floridian, never seen snow, never been on the ice Also, I know the cabin stewards bring ice, but is there a public ice machine on each floor? Thanks for the help. Hucc Posted May 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Pants are required when ice skating on the ship... so, sweat pants are fine. Also, I don't know of any public ice machine... the steward brings it to you. *** Upcoming Cruises Voyager of the Seas in August 2004 Diamond Princess in February 2005
bug18 Posted May 21, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 21, 2004 I don't think it's that cold on the ice rink but they want you to wear long pants more for safety reasons.
cruiselovinfamily Posted May 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Long pants, either jeans or sweats, are fine. Take whatever is more comfortable for them to move around in. Consider also if they fall - jeans tend to be more protective of the knees. My kids usually wear a lightweight long sleeved shirt too - for the same reason. If they fall it is less likely to get scraped and it is not as cold. Socks are also required for ice skating and for rock climbing. You have to sign the children in each day for either activity. Not sure, but for under 12 I think an adult has to be there with them as well. My children are old enough now that we sign them in each morning and they can then come and go as they want to for ice skating, rock climbing, and roller blading throughout the day. until the Mariner of the Seas - Eastern Caribbean until the Brilliance of the Seas - Panama Canal RCCL Sun Viking to Western Carib*Oct'81 honeymoon Carnival Tropicale to Mexican Riviera* Sep 1984 NCL Norway to Eastern Carib * Feb 1986 Premier Oceanic to Bahamas(Big Red Boat)* May 2000 RCCL Adventure to Southern Carib * Aug 2002 RCCL Explorer to Eastern Caribbean * Feb 2003 RCCL Radiance to Alaska * Aug 2003 RCCL Serenade to Canada * Sep 2003 RCCL Explorer to Western Carib * Feb 2004 RCCL Mariner to Eastern Carib * Aug 2004 Disney Wonder to the Bahamas * Nov 2004 RCCL Brilliance to Panama Canal * Feb 2005

NavigatorBride Posted May 21, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 21, 2004 My five year old had to put her hands down on the ice to get up a few too many times so her hands got pretty cold. I ended up putting an extra pair of socks on her hands. Just a suggestion, but you may want to put a little pair of $.99 gloves in your suitcase....I know it would have been a good idea for us.
