Roatan Cable cars

Does anyone know how much the cable cars are at Roatan? Do they take you to a beach in the middle of nowhere or are there restaurants / cafes / a town nearby to explore?

Any information about Roatan would be greatfully received - can we explore on our own? Is it safe?

I assume you are talking about the new chairlift?

I believe it goes over to a beach resort, one of the smaller islands (keys) that surround Roatan and will have a resturant & a gift shop.

I've been to two small towns on Roatan, Coxen Hole & the West End. Neither are very large. Plenty of cabs can take you around and are easy to find.

Most of the crime on the island is petty theft. I consider it as safe as most of the Caribbean and that you would be ok on your own.

The only downside of the island is to make sure you use bug repellent. The sand fleas and no see ums can potentially be pretty bad depending on the weather around your trip.
