afcj1 Posted January 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2010 When we were on the Dream, I saw soooo many people wearing their CCL robes to get something to eat. Seriously...the pools weren't open yet and at night, they were already closed. Others had jammie pants underneath:eek: Sorry, if I'm missing it...but would you wear your bath robe to the restaurant at a hotel? Hopefully not, so why would you wear one to the Lido deck to eat? I've NEVER seen as many robes out in public as I did on this sailing. Just wondering...am I in the minority to think that it's a little wierd? G&TQ Posted January 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2010 It is weird. But I am starting to see people where those sleep pants everywhere. I also saw a woman at a hotel breakfast area get food sit and eat.. I think the only time I was ever seen in pjs in public was at a hotel when someone hit the fire alarm. I was a little embarrassed as I was wearing Christmas flannels in June. It gets cold in hotels...
ShedQueen77 Posted January 12, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2010 I think I'd rather see the bathrobes than what's underneath them the majority of the time. ;)
urbanhawk Posted January 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2010 It's weird...at least they all weren't wearing their snuggies:eek:!!!! That would be even weirder!:D
johnlo81 Posted January 12, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2010 When we were on the Destiny in April they had a midnight robe and PJ party... Maybe some people were getting into spirit!
alabamaprincess Posted January 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2010 I saw someone wearing a robe in the dining room at lunch on the Fantasy back in November. Ewww! I was wondering if he was wearing anything underneath. I thought it was really tacky. I can't believe they let him in the dining room, its bad enough on Lido. caribsun Posted January 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Yes, weird. A bathrobe or dressing gown or housecoat is a robe typically worn after bathing in the privacy of one's home where the wearer is typically otherwise nude to keep warm and/or preserve modesty at times when there is no immediate need to fully dress. jhale Posted January 12, 2010 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2010 There was a woman on the Ecstasy in November that wore her robe all day long, of course if you caught a glimpse of her in her bikini on the lido, you were thankful for the robe! ;)
ducksoupforme Posted January 12, 2010 #11 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Clearly you don't live in fashionable areas and don't keep up with the latest styles. Here in Manhattan people wear robes to restaurants. It is a trend that has moved from Paris and Berlin and has caught on here.
CWcruisers Posted January 12, 2010 #12 Share Posted January 12, 2010 My DH and I were commenting on this same thing on our Miracle Dec cruise. Some lines specifically put it in the daily bulletins that robes are not to be worn in public. Maybe it's time CCL did the same.
SuperCoolOne Posted January 12, 2010 #13 Share Posted January 12, 2010 We stayed in a hotel for thanksgiving that had free breakfast. But, the dining area was always crowded so I would go down and bring food on trays up to the family and yes I was in my PJ pants! I wouldn't go to the dining room like that though. I have no idea about the Lido since this will be our first cruise.

ItsAllAboutTheSass Posted January 12, 2010 #15 Share Posted January 12, 2010 I wear my PJ pants all the time. To walk the dogs, sitting outside with the neighbors drinking some wine, to the grocery store....
ChrissyBTX Posted January 12, 2010 #16 Share Posted January 12, 2010 I totally agree with you OP. People who do that have no class. Unfortunately you will see this from time to time on Carnival ships. I would have said something to them if I had seen them. That's too bad some people act the way they do. cjackso8 Posted January 12, 2010 #17 Share Posted January 12, 2010 No to the robes, PJ pants I can see for running to the buffet in the mornings... I usually am not fully functional until I eat and wake up a bit. Not like I'd wear it to elegan night or anything. ;)
ChrissyBTX Posted January 12, 2010 #18 Share Posted January 12, 2010 I say "no" to pj's or robes. It's a public dining area.

margaritawoman Posted January 12, 2010 #22 Share Posted January 12, 2010 We have gotten to casual in this country. People put on some clothes!!! On our Dream transatlantic people even wore their robes in the show lounge. I don't want to see anyone in their PJs or robes in public.
riffatsea Posted January 12, 2010 #23 Share Posted January 12, 2010 I think it is funny to comment on robes! There are some very expensive spa resort hotels , like the Golden Door, where you are supposed to leave your fancy clothes home and hang out in your robe as much as possible!! Perhaps folks are just being comfortable ??As long as everything is covered..........well....maybe Carnival is turning into a "spa ship" instead of a "party ship". LHP Posted January 12, 2010 #25 Share Posted January 12, 2010 I would rather see someone COVERED UP than wearing a swimsuit at the buffet. I routinely grab a cup of coffee from Lido before heading to the sauna (or thalasso pool and sauna) first thing in the morning. (which is a ritual I do almost every morning to steam the ole vocal chords) And yes, I will have my robe over my swimsuit....because I am headed to the Spa ...
