TerB Posted February 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2010 We are staying at the Miami Airport Marriott in March. I was doing some research and it seems that Coral Gables is only 3 miles away. Is it a safe area? We need to go to a wine store and a nice place for dinner that won't cost us $50 round trip as downtown Miami might. Any suggestions for dinner? TONS of great restaurants, a couple of wine/bars, live theater, etc.... There are some great wine stores downtown Gables, also... It's a very upscale part of Miami... RHefley228 Posted February 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Try Gaetano's Ristorante in the Hotel St. Michel at 162 Alcazar Avenue. In fact, ditch being near the airport and stay at the St. Michel. Coral Gables is a much nicer area than either the airport or downtown Miami. Coral Gables is gorgeous and is a very upscale ritzy Miami neighborhood. Why on earth would you want to go downtown?
Rare PatriciaF Posted February 1, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2010 You are also very close to "Calle Ocho" the historical Cuban part of Miami. Go to Versailles for Cuban food!
MiamiSpartan Posted February 1, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Check out Giralda Ave in the Gables....Lots of really good restaurants up and down that street...
dmk Posted February 1, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2010 A bit OT: We are staying in Coral Gables in March. Thanks for the mention of some restaurants. Are there others, medium price, that you could recommend? Thanks:)
TerB Posted February 1, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Thanks for all the suggestions. I went through Priceline for my hotel that is why we are at the airport. Can't wait to have a Cuban sandwich!
