Pools on Alaska cruising?

Hi could someone please tell me with kids sailing to alaska in the summer from Seattle are the pools covered or are they heated? Thanks

The pools are filled with sea water so they are pretty cold. They dump and refill them, usually nightly. You might ask about a specific ship as far as being covered. The NCL ships I'm familiar with don't have covered pools.

When we were on the Star last week of May and first week of June in 08 there were people actually using the pool during the week.. crazy to me, but they were doing it.. LOL.

We were on the Sun the second week in June and it was way too cold to swim outside IMHO. There were a few brave souls in the main pools now and then though. The pools are not covered and in fact, the kiddies pool was closed. Not sure why that was as there were about 200 kids onboard. The kids were allowed in the main pools with adults.

We had a great cruise anyway and never missed the pool once. There was a lot to see as most of the time you are close to land and watching for bears onland and whales swimming near the ship.

Take the Duck tour at the pier in Ketchikan. It was cheap, lots of fun and tons of photo ops.

You will love Alaska but bring a warm jacket preferably water repellant.

Only saw two people in the pool when we went to Alaska May 10th last year (from Seattle) - Did see lots of folks in the hot tubs....
