Time Lapse video of Mariner of the Seas

During our recent cruise to Cabo, Mazatlan and PV on Mariner of the

Seas, I created a time-lapse video of all of the port departures and

arrivals, start to finish. 12,000+ individual frames stitched together

and animated with a soundtrack. Image control software was

Granite Bay Time Lapse, tied to a Canon G2. Raw sequencing via

Quick Time Pro, post processing via Virtual Dub, and final assembly

in Movie Maker (Vista).

It was fun to make and the results I think came out better than I

had expected!

Let me know what you think!

Wow, I am surprised nobody has responded to this your posting yesterday. The was a lot of fun to watch, especially the small boats in the ports. Sometimes they looked as if there should have been collisions all day. What fun. thanks for posting it.

I loved how clear your video was, especially at sunset & night. May I ask what type of camera & tripod you were using?

Nothing fancy really - older Canon Powershot G2 (only 2 mega pixel) with a very cheesy tripod I bought at Rite Aid the day before the cruise (since went to the trash - it was BAD - but very small - looking for a better one).

But the magic isn't in the camera - it's in the capture and post process steps that it comes to life. Go to the Royal Caribbean section and search "time lapse" for an older thread on this video - I posted a complete step-by-step of how to do all of this.

That was awesome. We were on Mariner over Halloween with 23 other people. Hopefully you don't mind that I am going to send your link to them to watch and remember the fun we had.

Thank You So Much!!

I'd be delighted if you did send it on. Thanks for the kind comments.
