France on Bastille Day

I've never been in France on Bastille Day. Are shops or restaurants open? We'll be in Rouen that day. Any suggestions? Do they do fireworks?

Since it is a big national holiday in France I am afraid there will not be much open that day..the French tend to take their holidays very seriously..However, I am sure you will find Rouen in a party atmosphere with all kinds of goings on.There are fireworks in Paris,but I do not know about Rouen. I have been in France for various national as well as religous holidays and have always enjoyed the day..I am sure you will too.There is always something to see and do.
