cassandra321 Posted February 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2010 I read on one of the posts about some underground areas that are now open in Talinn. I can't find the post. Does anyone know about this and where is it located. It sounded fascinating.
Giantfan13 Posted February 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2010 Cassandra We happened to visit this museum, but really didn't want to go thru the tunnels. Tallin is a wonderful city with so mnay wonderful sights to see. If you need any other info on it, please ask away. Here are a few pixs from around town. Maybe they can help The "Kiek in the Kök" Museum http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe574.jpg The Pepperhouse, a wonderful place to have some lunch http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe594.jpg Street vendors along the walled city http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe622.jpg Street people looking to please the crowds http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe627.jpg Overlooking the slate rooftops of Tallin, out towards the harbor http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe546.jpg One of the many Russian influence Churches you see in Tallin http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe566.jpg Cheers Len
Lair Bear Posted February 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2010 For those not familiar with the Bastion Tunnels here is a picture. These tunnels are several hundred meters long and some have not yet been cleared for visitors. Rumor has it that the entire old-town has a network of underground tunnels, but no-one knows for sure. If the museum is not open (it is going through a restoration process right now), the tunnels will probably be closed also.
