Stop That! Posted February 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2010 What are your favorite songs to listen to on a cruise? We have a 20-hour drive ahead of us and some great, tropical party songs could really make the drive a lot better! We really like anything but country. Hip hop, trance, popular stuff, reggae...any suggestions?

Badlands99 Posted February 24, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2010 For some reason, this reminds me of Justin Wilson (the guy, now deceased, who used to have that Cajun cooking show) and how he used to say: "People ask me: What is the best wine to have with this dish? I always tell them: Whatever wine you like to drink!" On the 11 hour drive to Miami for our recent cruise, I listened to a lot of heavy-ish rock, like Clutch, Pantera, White Zombie, etc., because I'd rather take a beating than listen to Jimmy Buffet, Bob Marley, or any typical "tropical" or beach music. You'll be subjected to that stuff plenty during your cruise, so you might want to rethink this before you load up on it for 20 hours beforehand. :)

bala1130 Posted February 24, 2010 #13 Share Posted February 24, 2010 Jimmy Bufett Holiday - The weather channel girl with her perfect weather curl Is talkin' cold, cold, cold. You can't get out of bed, you can't remember what you've said, You're feelin' old, old, old. Is it a fever or depression, anger or obsession, What's the remedy? We're not talkin' rocket science, the answer to your question's Very plain to see. You need a Holiday, (you need a holiday) take a Holiday (take a holiday). Find a far-off wonderland where you might regain Command of your life today. Take a Holiday, (take a holiday) you need a Holiday (you need a holiday). Grab a pack and hit the trail, take a sail And wind up in some moonlit bay.

I like hard stuff too, and the beauty of the iPod is having many, many playlists. I'm sure we'll start in snowy Cleveland with the tropical stuff, and by the time we hit Galveston we'll have moved on to...well, anything else :P Good point about Bob Marley, though...he'll be all over the cruise. Still, puts me in the mood :D

Happy ks Posted February 24, 2010 #18 Share Posted February 24, 2010 I like a wide variety of music while driving (although we rarely drive more than an hour anywhere). I love to listen to Andrea Bocelli in the car...really loud, it takes us right back to Italy. When we listen to Alan Parsons Project, it takes us back to the Canadian Rockies. I don't think you should limit yourself to just cruise related music, a little goes a long way. The Beatles Love album is fun to hear. Some classic rock, Motown, a little Jimmy Buffet, especially his earlier albums, 60's, 70's, 80's (if you can stand it). 20 hours is a whole lot of time to get burned out on any one style of music, so mix it up! Edit to add, you even have time to listen to a book if you wanted to.

Should be an interesting drive...at least there are three of us in the car, and everyone has their own iPod. So we shouldn't run out of tunes!
