karpela Posted March 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2010 Just booked our 1st shore excursion on our 1st cruise! It's a 5 hour trip in Istanbul, leaving 11.45am booked through X. This doesn't include lunch or refreshments and doesn't mention any free time until the last hour or so when we will be at the Grand Bazar. So, worrying about my stomach as usual, will we be able to eat lunch, or can we take anything off the ship such as a sandwhich or fruit? Yet again I'm worrying about cruise ettiquette!! Looking forward to your replies :)

Looking forward to your replies :) Congrats on your first cruise and shore excursion. Most countries have agricultural laws that make it illegal to bring fresh food into their country (as it could contain pests that could contaminate local agricultural). Most countries do permit factory sealed food to be brought in (i.e. granola bar type foods - still sealed in the wrapper). You may want to bring something like that along if you are concerned about needing some food during the excursion.
