tombourn Posted March 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2010 We are booked in a514 on star for 12 day med cruise? We just got back from 7 day EasternCRBN on emernald in e222. It was obstructed but nice. Question since A514 is highest inside, if we tell our TA that we will accept an upgrade, if we got one would it be to the lowest fully obstructed? If so what would everyone do? Just leave it and be happy or go for broke And probably look at. Orange tender? Tom

Tom Worse case is that you do get upgraded to an Obstructed OV and then can choose to close the blinds or not. You can't make sunshine in an inside room. I'd say leave it to the upgrade fairy to decide.
tombourn Posted March 22, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted March 22, 2010 Oops forgot to ask this. Noone may know, but why not ask. Will the "inside guarantee" of all categories have first shot at an upgrade before us or just the guaranteed inside in the ii category then us? Whoo Posted March 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2010 I'm booked for a category II room also, and have wondered the same thing. Has anyone ever been upgraded from an II, and what did they get?
paul929207 Posted March 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 22, 2010 You could stay where you are or (if you have marked Accept Upgrade) you could be upgraded to any cabin in any higher category. No one has first shot at an upgrade. It is all up to the Upgrade Fairy and no one has been able to predict her whims.
Colo Cruiser Posted March 22, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2010 There is no rhyme or reasdon to upgrades, its the chance you take. In your situation I don't think you could so wrong though. ;)
tombourn Posted March 23, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted March 23, 2010 That's what I figured. Having the Terrace pool right down the passageway would be nice, but on our itinerary it won't be a big deal and even am obstructed view would allow some light. The only higher inside cabins are on the Plaza deck and that wouldn't be bad either as long as Trey don't kick me out of mycabin for another II. Pam in CA Posted March 23, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2010 Mediterranean cruises often sell out. The only way you could get an upgrade would be to an obstructed view cabin, which could be anywhere on the ship. IMHO, any light in any form is better than no light, even if it's behind a tender. Upgrades are pretty random although the number of passengers booked in a specific category and the number of cabins available influences whether someone is upgraded. The vast majority aren't, even when you have your booking marked "Will accept upgrade."
