Worldnomads.com?

Has anyone used worldnomads.com for trip insurance coverage? It seems so much cheaper than Travelguard or any other insurance agencies with similar coverages. Not sure if it's reliable since it's so cheap?

Thanks! :)

Your problem is thinking they offer similar coverage. They don't. The savings are based on:

1) not accepting any clients over 61.

2) No coverage for pre-existing medical conditions under any circumstances

3) Deductibles

4) Severely limited medical coverage -- to be covered the medical problem has to meet the following criteria:

"you have a sudden, unexpected illness or injury during your trip that's either life threatening or could cause serious and irreparable harm if it isn't treated"

So if you sprain your ankle you're out of luck. Upset stomach, out of luck. Need help with your seasickness, out of luck. It's a loophole big enough to drive a truck through. By comparison, here's what Travel Guard will cover under their Medical Expense benefit:

"The Insurer will reimburse the Insured up to the Maximum Limit(s) shown on the Schedule if, while on a Trip, an Insured suffers an Injury or a Sickness that requires him or her to be treated by a Physician during the course of the Trip."

And their definition of "Injury" or "Sickness" is:

"Sickness" means an illness or disease diagnosed or treated by a Physician."

"Injury/Injured" means a bodily injury caused by an accident occurring while the Insured's coverage under the Policy is in force, and resulting directly and independently of all other causes of Loss covered by the Policy. The injury must be verified by a Physician."

So with Travel Guard, as long as it's something serious enough to cause you to see a doctor you're OK. If you need medical care during the cruise which Medical Expense coverage would you rather have?

I'm not saying it's a bad plan but you have to evaluate the coverages as they are, not as they superficially appear to be when compared to other plans. There are major important differences in coverages which account for the differences in price.

Thank you for your advice! I obviously didn't compare it well enough. Saw someone's post earlier about how great/cheap worldnomads are, but then saw everyone well commended on Travelguard, just curious. :)
