Jo and Rob Posted April 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2010 We are looking at a cabin which is not over a lifeboat which means it will either be towards the front or back of the ship. Which do you prefer and why?
CCBelle Posted April 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I can only speak from experience with being very far forward (room 6111 on the Equinox), and it was a great room. No complaints whatsover. The price was good, the view was perfect and the walk to the stairs/elevator was perfectly manageable.
GeorgeL Posted April 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2010 We are looking at a cabin which is not over a lifeboat which means it will either be towards the front or back of the ship. Which do you prefer and why? If you have a choice, and everything else being equal, choose the back. The reason is that you will experience much more motion in the front (it moves up and down much more) so if have any issues wih motion sickness, the back of the ship is better. cruie4ever Posted April 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Booking a stern balcony cabin gives you 180 degree views & no wind to deal with . We loved our stern cabin on Equinox for 14 days we had magnificant sunrises & when we pulled into ports we had that 180 degree view . Additionally there is always a constant wake to see behind the ship . If you are going on a S class ship we had absolutely no noise or vibration from the engines .We were on the sunset deck
eandj Posted April 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Unless you are in a balcony room in a 3c, where the boats will be at the foot of your balcony, the life boats really don't block a whole lot when you are up a couple floors. Mid ship is the best if you are prone to motion sickness too.
Craig_K Posted April 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I second that for the back too. Always my first choice. Low and in the back.

We have cabin 7135, so hopefully there won't be too much motion (I booked it and then found the comments about the motion!!!)
