Royal Caribbean brand Sea Salt?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so this is just a random question that struck me while reading about the desalination of seawater to be used for drinking water on board.

Maybe really dumb but...here goes...

So if the ships use the heat from the generators on board to evaporate the sea water to desalinate it, what happens to all the salt left over?

It seems to me that if RCI wanted to save some real money, couldn't they use the salt left over for other uses on board?

Sell it to the private vendor running the spas for use in the aroma therapy salt rubs.

Use it in the kitchen to season food.

Rim the Margarita Glasses with it in all the bars.

Sell it in fancy packages in the gift shops as Gourmet RCI brand sea salt.

I think RCI is missing out on a potential lucrative revenue stream. :)
