Has anyone done the Las Caletas excursion?? If so, did you book it through the ship or on your own? It sounds like a great excursion but I would love to have input.

We have been to Las Caletas eight times over the last nine years. We have not gone there while on a cruise. There are no beach vendors selling goods.

Las Caletas is a private beach on the south side of Banderas Bay. The excursion operator is Vallarta Adventures and they are under contract with most cruise lines for a variety of excursion. If your ship offers this excursion, Vallarta Adventures is not allowed, under the terms of the contract, to book this excursion directly with cruisers. The excursion starts and finishes at the port within a hundred yards of your ship.

Some people have reported that they were able to book directly with Vallarta Adventure (or third party excursion brokers) by saying that they were in Vallarta on a land vacation vs. cruise ship.

They have two excursions daily. The first leaves the port area at roughly 9 AM and the second leaves the port area at roughly 11:30. The two excursions overlap at lunch. First has beach/activities, lunch and return; second has lunch, beach/activities and then return.

First serves cruise ships that arrive before 9 AM and hotel/resort guests; second serves late arriving cruise ships and hotel/resort guests that were bumped from the 9 AM slot by cruise ship passengers.

It is reported that Mariner has changed how they manage ship's time vs. port local time. It is causing confusing and I can't tell you when your ship will actually arrive in PV.

Enjoy!
