Silashenry Posted June 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2010 What side is best for the southern route (not the one going to Aruba)
Sue L Posted June 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2010 there is no better side as the ship docks differently all the time based on the what the harbor masters decide.
cb at sea Posted June 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2010 It's true...either side is fine....what you don't see at one port, you'll see at another. And, if you don't like the view from you balcony, you'll go to an open deck and have 360 degree views....there are no bad views in the Caribbean--anywhere! alicam Posted June 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2010 It really doesn't matter which side you are on
SLCBoys Posted June 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2010 I was on Serenade in Feb...aft balcony then it doesn't matter you see most everything anyway.
gdpups Posted June 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2010 I like to sit on my balcony and see the islands passing by, so I'll look at a map of the itinerary and pick the side with the most land we'll pass by. Whether we'll get close enough to see who knows, but that's just how I pick and it's worked for me.
Sequim88 Posted June 3, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2010 I looked at the map and thought, at first, that our Port side balcony would be ideal going south passing islands we don't stop at. Then woke up to the fact that sunset is at about 6pm, shortly after leaving last port so most of the sailing past islands will be at night. Distances are so close that even sailing really slow we will likely dock in wee hours of morning. Might have been better to have Starboard side for sunsets but that time of day we'll be having pre-dinner drinks somewhere...with view from there. So for us it does not matter. yogimax Posted June 3, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2010 Go with the best cabin, regardless of port or starboard
kyriecat Posted June 3, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2010 If it's the itinerary that has St. Lucia, I'd pick port side so you can see the Pitons from your window/balcony as you sail by.
Silashenry Posted June 3, 2010 Author #10 Share Posted June 3, 2010 We are booked on the starboard hump as of right now with one on the bigger balconys
gdpups Posted June 3, 2010 #11 Share Posted June 3, 2010 We had 8088 on our Serenade cruise last year. Huge balcony and the convenience to the elevators was awesome! We've got a corner aft this time (9 days from now), so we'll see how we like the long walk to the elevators! I may be missing that hump cabin! khank Posted June 4, 2010 #12 Share Posted June 4, 2010 gdpups - we have cabin 8088 on the Serenade in September. Was the balcony fully shaded? Were there any issues with noise? Thanks for the info!
kyfirsttimecruiser Posted June 18, 2010 #13 Share Posted June 18, 2010 We hope to book cabin 8086 on Serenade next April. It looks larger on the map than most, but not 8088. Do you think it is a great view since its an odd size? Thought you might have looked next door:) ?
