St Petersburg Active Tour, Sep 3 and 4

We have set up a 2 day very active private tour for our 2 day port stay in St Petersburg on September 3rd and 4th. We have 2 couples and would like to add 2 more couples to bring the price down to $300 each. We are traveling on the Princess Star. We start our cruise from Copenhagen on August 30th for a 10 day cruise. We are looking for very active couples who want to see as much as possible with still getting the history on everything. We are in 30's and early 40's and go, go, go.

Let me know if anyone is interested. The below itineary seems the best to us.

DAY 1

 

7: 30a.m. Meeting by the ship

 

Complete City tour in St Petersburg (please look at the details if a city tour below)

City tour includes driving and photo stops in the most beautiful, historical places in St Petersburg. St Nicholas Cathedral

Your guide will tell you different stories and legends about famous palaces and architectural ensembles. You will see: Nevsky prospect (the main street in St Petersburg) , National Library, Kazan Cathedral, the Square of Arts, Russian Museum, Ethnographical Museum, Michael’s Castle, Summer Gardens of Peter the Great, the log cabin of Peter the Great, Aurora Battleship, the Spit of Basil Island, The State St Petersburg University, the Monument of Peter the Great, Admiralty, Theatre Square with famous Mariinsky Theatre.

 

PHOTO STOP by ST.ISSAK’S CATHEDREAL

10:00-10:30am Travel to Petergof by hydrofoil

 

11:00-1.00pm Guided tour of the Fountain Park-Monplaisir Palace

Peterhof , "RussianVersailles" — is a jewel of the Russian art, a town of parks, palaces and fountains which is very often compared with French Versailles. But don't believe those who states this: our Petergoff is much better!! Peterhoff tour (or Petrodvorets). This city of outstanding parks, marvelous cascades and innumerous fountains is a former summer Residence of Russian emperors. These fascinating ensemble is laid out right on the southern shore of the Finnish Gulf (Baltic Sea). During the tour You'll enjoy the beauty of the grounds and visit Peter the Great Monplaisir Palace. Monplaisir is translated into English as "my pleasure". In reality this palace is the fulfilling of Peter the Great dreams

 

1.00-1:15 Grab Local Russian Food to eat on the way

 

1.15-2:45pm INSIDE Guided Tour Yusupov's Palace is the real "encyclopedia" of St. Petersburg aristocratic interior design. The Yusupov Palace witnessed one of Russian history's moments of high drama - the murder of Gregory Rasputin. As tour-guides lead you through the beautiful recreated aristocratic interiors, the full story of the murder of Rasputin will

 

3:00-4:15St Peter and Paul Fortress Inside guided tour of St.Peter&Paul Cathedral,

Church of Our Savior on Spilt Blood (inside tour if you wish)

 

"Peter and Paul fortress" - is the birth place of St Petersburg. All Russian tsars and tsarinas since Peter the Great up to Nicholas II are buried in Peter and Paul Cathedral on the territory of the fortress .Be sure you will hear the story about one of the last tsar’s daughters- Anastasia Romanova and much, much more…

 

4.30pm-6pm Driving back to the city with subway station visit and short souvenir visit to the farmer’s market

 

6pm Return to the ship or (Evening optional program to See a Russian Ballet, Folk Show or Boat Tour of City at night)

 

DAY 2

 

8:00 a.m. Meet by the ship

 

8-9:00 a.m. Travel and visit to Tsar’s Village

 

9:30-11:30 Inside Guided Tour of the Catherine Palace with Amber Room

Catherine palace (with famous Amber Room) a former country residence of Russian emperors — is a fascinating monument of the world's architectural and gardening arts of the 18–19 centuries. The compositional centre of the Tsarskoselsky ensemble is Catherine's Palace with its world — famous Amber Room.

 

11:30-12:30 Pavlovsk. This a superb palace-and park ensemble of the late XVII-early XIX centuries which was used as a summer residence of the Russian emperor Paul I and his family. This palace is known for its' outstanding collection of antique sculptures, European furniture, bronze, china sets, silk fabrics….

 

12.30-1:00 pm Lunch (optional) for example in Pirogi café

Stolle" - the best pie café in the city. These pies (aromatic, ruddy, juicy, shining, warm and soft) quickly conquered the city. First visitors compared them with grandmother’s pies but a bit later they stopped referring to grandmothers and just took them as models. The widest choice of fillings is during summer when to traditional fish, meat, chicken and cottage cheese they add wild berries. We drop there with every of our tourists just to have a bite during excursions - believe us everybody is very pleased!!!

 

1.30-3.30 pm Inside guided tour at the Hermitage Museum -or longer tour if you wish

This thread is where other cruise critic members who are on your sailing post to say hello and look for companions to share private tours, plan meet-up gatherings, etc.

 

You will be more likely to find others to join you by posting there. Good Luck.

Agree with TMLA. If you read the stickies, at the top of the page, posting things are this are sort of forbidden on this type of forum. I understand many people are just looking for into. But, as was said, you will get a much bigger response if you head towards the 'roll call' boards, look up your cruise line, then your ship, and look for a thread for your sailing. You should find many people there with the same interests ad you.

 

After that, come back here with specific questions about the ports, tours, travel etc. Many of us are looking to help fellow cruisers
