If you are considering an itinerary such as the Caribbean then yes you will see a lot of teenagers on board the ship in August.

Keith

Thank you........ :( I hope they are behaving on my cruise........

was told so much about what the cruises are turning out to be because of some parents not watching them.

Worried.........

It's not just Carnival and it's not just teens, unfortunately. Middle of August is stille a prime time for teens as many schools are still not underway.

Man I thought I was late enough to have most teens back...

Yes, not just teens I am sure. The cruise I was on was my first and it was October... It was great.. hardly no teens or kids.

This time it will be with my youngest son with us. I just do not want to have to cover his eyes or have to explain something that should just not be happening.:(

Hopefully.... it will go smoothly:confused:

I've cruised at the end of June and July - both 5 day Caribbean cruises.

Lots of kids, teens and young adults... mine included and many in our group.

I've never noticed a problem and I hang out with my sister-in-law and her 2 young boys (4 & 6 on our last cruise).

IMHO the ones you need to worry about being most misbhaved would be adults acting like children. I have always marveled at the hairy man contest and the repated replay on the closecircuit TV

Thank you all!!! I am so looking foward to this cruise with the family!:) I guess its everywhere.... I am a pretty laid back person..:p

The school "year" in the United States generally runs from around Labor Day (which is around September 4; early September) through early June -- so the middle of August will still be summer vacation for kids in most parts of the US.

You'll see wild and crazy kids on most all the generic lines -- Carnival, RCCL, NCL, etc. In one post you say you're "laid back"; in another you're covering your 14 year old's eyes..I think 14 year olds, these days, have seen/heard/done a lot more than we want to even think about! You may find yourself covering your eyes more than his! :o

I am laid back....... I just dont want my eight year old to see somethings he does not need to.

Think someone messed up the date you are cruising (August 14th) with your sons age which you do not state in the original post.

Sorry, yes, I did see August 14 and transposed that to your son's age.

But a joke:

Woman and her 8 year old daughter are driving down the expressway and the woman glances over and realizes the man in the car next to them is NAKED!!! YIKES!!! She tries to divert her daughter's attention, but sure enough, the inquisitive child sees the driver and gasps:

"Mommy!!! That man isn't wearing a seatbelt!!!!!"

:D

We are going Aug 15th with "kids" from 22 to 1 and a total of 23 of us. We did not chose Carnival, but still expect to see lots of kids on the ship. Hope you have a great time!

In a car you can only see torso up so you would see chest. If one has to keep their 8 year old from seeing a mans chest then I am surprised that they are allowed in a car.

I really wouldn't worry about it. The only times I've seen misbehaving kids were on a spring break 3-day weekend cruise that had a lot of college kids that were over-indulging by the pool. That was it. Just a lot of drinking, but I didn't notice them removing their bathing suits or anything else objectionable. And on our last cruise, a large extended family from a different country with the parents spending all their time away from their kids (in the casino, or wherever). So the kids were bored and getting into trouble (they didn't go to the kids' program according to my 8-yr-old).

Other than that, I'm not sure what you are concerned with. What kind of behavior?

As a youth ministry director and mother of a 14y/o dd, I can tell you that I'd be more worried about my 8y/o son seeing women in thongs and drunken 20-somethings more than I would teenagers with mp3 players tied to their ears. I don't think we give our teens enough credit. But, I'll be testing those waters for our first cruise this November. We'll be taking our dd.

Actually, i believe that most high schools and universities have started back by August 14.

August 14 is move-in date for Clemson University and most other schools, so I think you'll be free of most of the college-age crowd.

As for high schoolers, at least in the southeast, most are either back to school or involved in fall sport practice.

I don't know that you can say "most schools and universities have started back by August 14". Around here in Wisconsin, "most schools" don't start back until the week right before labor day, and some high schools don't start until after labor day..which is the first Monday in September.
