UK to NZ via Asia

Recommended Posts

We're not 'luxury liner' type people - we've tried P&O for 10 days and found it a bit like Butlins on Sea! But we have been on a number of smaller boats and loved them. We also avoid the US like the plague, simply because of the way that US Immigration treat visitors, even in transit.

Now our dilemma.

We live in NZ, but are currently in the UK as my mother is ill. Some time in the next few months we will need to travel back to NZ.

But Hubby managed to get a bad dose of DVT on the journey over (he travelled too soon after a leg operation). So we thought a slow trundle back on a ship or two might be the answer.

A couple of the big companies (P&O, Cunard etc) do cruises from Southampton to Auckland or Oz - but with a big ship and USA in the mix, we're not that interested.

So - can anyone recommend a route via Asia (or avoiding the US) that we could take - preferably on non-cruise-liners? We don't mind a few stop-overs and ship changes.....

Thanks!
