WendyVF Posted June 21, 2010 #101 Share Posted June 21, 2010 I'm loving the review. We are going on the Fantasy on July 24th. Did you actually get a mimosa in the dining room? When I've tried ordering a drink, even a soda, at breakfast they look at you like you have 2 heads or something.
All4fun&fun4all Posted June 21, 2010 Author #102 Share Posted June 21, 2010 Even our elephant looks sad now. All packed and ready to wander the ship with our wine By this point it is 4:20pm (ok ok 4:25) as observed by the syncronization of our watches...Andrew is loving his new watch. Observing and appreciating art Random phone in the hallway Back up to lido deck to break open the wine He accidently bit the cork in half. Time to wander the ship a bit before the farewell party. Now I will always have a permanent account of my cruise vacation! You are gonna have a blast and now I am jealous. We got a mimosa in the dining room for breakfast. I drink water with dinner so I didnt ask then. A lovely young lady came around at breakfast and suggested a mimosa to me. How could I refuse! :o
WendyVF Posted June 21, 2010 #104 Share Posted June 21, 2010 That's great. Have to get my OJ somehow! Love that Andrew had a Bud McMuffin for breakfast. You sould like our kind of people. We're thinking of doing something similar in Freeport but would prefer a place with a few more facilities We'll have our DD(15) with us. Did you see any place that would rent chairs and such? All4fun&fun4all Posted June 21, 2010 Author #105 Share Posted June 21, 2010 A really cool place to sit and watch the sea go by (or people watch depending on which way you are sitting) is right outside the casino near the sushi bar. They have window seats and there are some really cool chaise lounges that looked like they were softer than a cloud. I didnt dare lay in one of them because people all around us were passing out in them. Here is Andrew in the window seat And meeeee with my wine! Normally I avoid the coffee bar but was dying for a cappuchino. It was Starbucks-ish priced but very very delicious. I had the caramel one. To.DIE.for. Time for a cigarette break. We found that the bars etc that were smoking were nicely sprinkled throughout and didnt have to go out of our way most of the time to take a break. This is Cat's Lounge. Nice little place to pop in for a smoke. No one in here typically but we did run in to the Asst. CD and another guy. They sat and smoked with us and had a loverly set down with them. Here are a few pics inside Cat's Lounge Our wine and mah coffee I am aware that sounds gross but I wanted to stay awake this night! A nicer shot of the wine Shall we away to the Farewell Party? Follow me...
cpygrl Posted June 21, 2010 #106 Share Posted June 21, 2010 Thank you for this excellent review! It looks like you dropped off your luggage at around 11:45 or so - is that right? I will be sailing June 26 and was wondering how early we could drop of our luggage and start the boarding process. Thanks!

I will be sailing June 26 and was wondering how early we could drop of our luggage and start the boarding process. Thanks! We got to the ship around 11:45 to noon. We were definitely onboard with drink in hand at 12:30 because I uploaded a pic to my fellow employees at that time. :) We didnt go straight down to our room at first because we found that it is a really tight transition time between previous guests leaving and new guests arriving. Put it to you this way, we were called for our zone around 11am for debark. The stewards are still cleaning when the early birds board. We ended up going downstairs around 1pm or so to put our stuff in the room. The heavy doors blocking the corridors to our room were closed but not locked. We went straight to our room which was open but clean and dropped off our carry on and then promptly left to go back up to lido. Just in case our steward had more things to do and we didnt want to be in the way.

Did you see any place that would rent chairs and such? I personally didnt, but if I am not mistaken if you grab a chair on the beach at Our Lucaya they will charge you for doing so. My suggestion to you is to check out the Port of Call board for Bahamas and in the search field type in Freeport. That is how I got my idea to go to Lucaya. We wanted to do the horse riding excursion someone spoke of on one of the threads but the one that was least expensive was already booked solid. Boo! All4fun&fun4all Posted June 21, 2010 Author #109 Share Posted June 21, 2010 The Farewell Party was pretty fun too. The drink service was spot on. We had people coming from every corner setting drinks on the table. I know one is a whiskey sour but not sure about the other one. Oh, and our wine. I believe there was dancing involved. Back down to the room and I got in this stewards closet. This is the first and only time we have ever gone to our room and caught our steward cleaning it. It sorta surprised us! I think he was running away here And tonight's towel animal....STINGRAY
All4fun&fun4all Posted June 21, 2010 Author #110 Share Posted June 21, 2010 There was a casualty Bummer. Down to lido deck mister. I wanna go swimming. The picture isnt blurry. Its just how we look/feel. Remember that super cool watch that Andrew bought at the watch sale. It wasnt water resistant. We found that out the hard way. We should have read the warranty information enclosed in the gift box and we would have known before hand. Ah well. We swam for quite some time and then realized that it was close to dinner time. We cant miss dinner on the LAST NIGHT!! It was 7:45pm and our seating was 8:15pm. Can we actually get down to our room, change and be at our table on time? Perhaps! I am going to apologize for the next set of pictures. No flash and unsteady hands make for an interesting picture. If you are prone to having acid flashbacks you may want to skip these. Whoa! This just says so much about this dinner night Our dinner couple was not there...thank goodness. Now time for your final dose of food porn. There there...this is hard for me too. We both had Lobster Bisque and it was sooooo tasty.

Razorbackfan2010 Posted June 21, 2010 #112 Share Posted June 21, 2010 Your review has been so great. All4fun&fun4all Posted June 21, 2010 Author #113 Share Posted June 21, 2010 And yes, I did it again. There was a nap involved right after dinner. Free drinks for an hour strikes again. Two hour powernap and I was all better. You may NOT see pictures of me napping. Back up to lido deck where it was a ghost town. the Andrew decided to ride a horsey. It's a chess piece. He also was feeling like a pawn. Here is the lido deck buffet as seen at nighttime. They had hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders. Ugh. The smell almost made me sick. If I still liked those sort of food items I would have loved it though I am sure. We didnt eat lunch but the first day onboard. There was also an omlet station here as well. Pawn We did not need one of these. We were proper lady and gentleman. No tomfoolery.
AUS-SEA Posted June 21, 2010 #114 Share Posted June 21, 2010 We live in Mt. Pleasant and are sailing August 21 and like you, we're planning on taking a cab to the terminal (not sure which company to call yet). quote] We live in Mt. Pleasant, too, and we always take Charleston Black Cab to the terminal. They are soooo roomy and easy to get in and out of. They also have very good air conditioning! All4fun&fun4all Posted June 21, 2010 Author #115 Share Posted June 21, 2010 Do yourselves (and everyone else onboard) a favor and use these anytime you see them. They are automatic so you dont even have to touch them. USE THEM JUICE...closed. Darn Now I am exhausted so back to the cabin with me. Andrew went off exploring...somewhere he shouldnt. Yep. He did it. He thinks this is the infamous I-95 as described in the book Cruise Confidential
All4fun&fun4all Posted June 21, 2010 Author #116 Share Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) He encountered someone in a towel here in this hallway. I dunno. I wasnt with him. Eventually he was discovered and asked politely to leave....and he did. Exhausted now himself it was to bed with him as we fall asleep dreading tomorrow. Debarkation. Cant we just hide somewhere? Under the bed or something? Day (whatever it is)= Busy and sad Once I get the photos uploaded and my notes together I will continue to debarkation. I almost dont want to. But I will. Edit: Additionally, we completely missed the comedy show this night which was awful because we missed the first show too. DRAT! OCruisers Posted June 21, 2010 #117 Share Posted June 21, 2010 :) Thanks again for your time to do this! Very much enjoyed! :D Think I've viewed them all ... but could have missed  Do you have a FULL Side-View of the ship?
Kimbopolo Posted June 22, 2010 #118 Share Posted June 22, 2010 What a wonderful account of your trip! You have a very compelling style and the accompanying photos are delightful. (Your narrative is also evocative as we were on the Fantasy in April before she made the move to Charleston). I review manuscripts as part of my job yours is - hands down - the best piece of writing I've seen today.
Ave43 Posted June 22, 2010 #119 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Great review and pix! My hubby and I sailed on the Fantasy for our honeymoon in 1994. At that time, the ship sailed from Pt Canaveral and went to Freeport and Nassau. Only a 3 night cruise, but had a blast! The ship has been updated so much (I'd hope so!) But can still see the old Fantasy underneath. Thanks for the walk down memory lane! Sailing on the Pride in 5 days!!!!!!!!!!! Ave
momof4boys Posted June 22, 2010 #120 Share Posted June 22, 2010 I had so much fun reading your review. We were on the same sailing...sorry we didn't meet. Our group of 11 had a wonderful time. We ranged in age from 17 to 52. (Two sets of parents in their late 40s to early 50s and 7 younger people-- early 20s to 24 years olds) In Key west we took the trolley and got out at the Butterfly Conservatory---AMAZING! Then we went to the Southernmost monument for pictures. We ate at some wonderful restaurant at a Warf, then parasailed in the afternoon. Boy was it hot!! In Freeport, one of my sons turned 21 that day, so all of us did an all inclusive at the Wyndham. Lovely day for all of us. (Not sure that a couple of our group can remember much about it....but we told them they had fun!!) In Nassau we did the Atlantas AquaAdventure and had a Blast. It felt like spending a few short hours at Disney World but we still had a blast. Our group did go to the evening shows every night and we enjoyed those. We had some fun trying to find a place all 11 of us could crowd in together. :D The R rated Hypnotist was pretty hilarious. When he convinced the guy in the audience to go around to people and tell them how hard working the staff was and to not be a cheap **** and tip them well---we thought we'd wet our pants. Thanks for all help before our cruise. We really loved the area and hope to sail from there again!
KCMarie Posted June 22, 2010 #121 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Nancy, your review has got to be one of my all time favorites! It may even be the number 1! I have laughed so hard and so many times that my son came out of his room (yes! off his computer game, I know - hard to believe) It's so nice to see people having fun. Love it! You and Andrew are certainly making memories. My favorite posting of yours is the picture of Andrew pointing to his T-Shirt. Honestly, spew time of my ice tea. Excellent! Second I believe is the Number 1 and Number 2 seats. I've been on the Fantasy twice, in October we go on the Valor, January the Elation. I hope they stand up to my expectations set by the Fantasy and her crew. Thanks again for taking the time to do such a great review.
All4fun&fun4all Posted June 22, 2010 Author #122 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Here are a few videos to tide you over while I upload these final day pictures. Please be aware that the "bird" gets flipped rather often. If you are offended by obscene hand gestures; then you probably wont enjoy this little bit of silliness. All4fun&fun4all Posted June 22, 2010 Author #123 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Not sure what just happened with photobucket but it says my bandwith has been exceeded. Oddly enough the same number of pics are there that always had been there. If I have to do this review all over again I am going to freak out. Gonna try to resolve this issue before I proceed. Chief Cruiser Posted June 22, 2010 #124 Share Posted June 22, 2010 (edited) I hate the end of a good review...and I am glad you think mine is worthy! More review as soon as I get caught up on my work from last week. One of the most entertaining I have ever read here. Your descriptions and viewpoints are different than most reviews and it has been quite refreshing. I got so caught up in the review that I almost felt as if I were standing behind you and looking at the same thing as you took the picture. Very detailed and your pictures are of things that most other reviewers don't give to us. There are lots of good reviews on CC, then there's yours! I really hate to see debarkation day come and the end. So now I sit wishing my life away to get to September when I sail for the 4th time on the Fantasy. Until then, can you go on another cruise just so I can read another of your reviews????? Edited June 22, 2010 by Chief Cruiser
