falkcor Posted June 30, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2010 just call the carnival number, (the 800-carnival) and go through the prompt that offers the option of booking your cruise, and there will be someone on the other end more than happy to sell you the "Trip of a lifetime" when you call the 800-carnival number, though, that is a CVS (cruise vacation specialist)... they answer the incoming calls, and can definitely book you. but you don't have the 'same one' every time you call, though you can speak to anybody to book or access your booking. PVPs are a different department, and act more like a dedicated TA does... they offer a bit more personal service, and a single point of contact. OP: my PVPs have typically called me within less than an hour of 'requesting a call' via voicemail, typically, in the occasions when i haven't been able to reach them... and they typically respond to email (how i tend to contact them) within an hour or less, also, when they're working. most pvps work something like 11-7 or so on weekdays, then something like 12-6 on saturdays - those are just approximate and it can vary... i've got better customer service from PVPs in my opinion than the one TA i used to book a cruise previously... and they've been more accessible... Legend Posted June 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2010 The PVP line is 1-800-819-3902 stay on the line and when the person answers you can request to be transferred to a PVP
GOTTA CRUISE NOW Posted June 30, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2010 I have to agree... 1. better service 2. mine looks out for me... i.e. price reductions and/ or upgrades 3. she calls back very quickly, usually within an hour. I won't go back to a travel agent. Period.
DocF Posted June 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 30, 2010 All that has been said about the PVP might be true. However, we have had four different ones in the 10 months since one was assigned to us. The latest one, I think, may last. Now the Cruise Vacation Specialist that I dealt with for a couple of years was always on the ball and did a wonderful job for us. If I had my way, I would still be dealing with her. But, I do think I may learn to like this latest PVP. Doc
ArkieCruiser Posted June 30, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 30, 2010 I have had 3 PVP's and have used them on 13 of my 14 cruises. The first two got married or husband got transferred. They have all been great. They even call, or e mail, me when a special comes up to an area I have told them I might like to go sometime. The one I have now is great. She has all of my information as to places I would like to go, preferences on cabins, looks for past passenger and military discounts, dining preferences, etc. They do not work on a commission like a TA but do have goals to meet. They are now based on customer service requests instead of how just many bookings they make. I can't post her name but if you will e mail me at ARKMAN110@yahoo.com I will be happy to send you her name and extension. Happy crusiiing.
