Krazy Kruizers Posted February 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2005 We will be visiting this port for the first time in May. What is there to do? Since DH has had a heart attack we are not into snorkling. What is around the pier area itself?
cali-croozer Posted February 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2005 Right at the pier is a shopping area and, to the right of that, a small beach that you can hang out at. What we did was hang out at the beach area in the morning, go back to the ship for lunch, and then explore the shopping area. There were locals playing music and dancing in costume; some people mentioned cooking demonstrations. PS......there's a Costa Maya board you may want to look at for more ideas. Krazy Kruizers Posted February 8, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 8, 2005 Thanks The shopping area and beach sounds right up our alley. That's just what we like to do.
jnc411 Posted February 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2005 We took one of the tours to the archeological sites , very interesting. It was a long drive to and from , but we enjoyed it. Cori
jewopaho Posted February 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2005 There's even a little shuttle bus running from the pier to the shopping area. The beach is not exactly Megan's Bay, but it's water and it's clean. I suggest that you wear water socks, since it's pretty rocky. Incidentally, there's also a pool right there; and even the public rest rooms are well-kept. Have a great cruise! Al
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 9, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted February 9, 2005 DH can't take long bus rides anymore so I think we will be sticking around the pier. Will do some more research in April. Thanks
