SANDEE Posted July 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Hi, Can someone tell me if you cancel a cruise 2 months before final payment is there any penalty's? We will rebook a different one because of time element. Can you cruise just one way and fly home as that may work? Any help would be appreciated. Rare geoherb Posted July 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2010 There's no penalty from the cruise line for canceling before the final payment date. Some travel agencies charge a cancellation fee. It depends on where your cruise goes as to whether you could fly home from one of the ports during the cruise.
aquilegia Posted July 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2010 I would imagine that if you flew back halfway through a cruise you would have to pay the fare for the full cruise plus your airfare.
paul929207 Posted July 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Princess will not charge you a fee for canceling before final payment is due. Some travel agents have a cancellation fee. Could you be a little clearer about what you want to do?
SANDEE Posted July 19, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted July 19, 2010 We are booked on a 14day and have a conflict and need to return early so thought maybe could just fly home. We than thought we could just cancel and book a 7 day so trying to decide but was wondering about cancelation fees. It sounds like would just be better to change it and do the 7 day. Thanks, Sandee
Loonbeam Posted July 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Unless your airfare is already booked, you should have no issues rescheduling as long as payment hasn't been made.
paul929207 Posted July 19, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Yes, you could book a one way cruise and fly the other way.
hightownCO Posted July 19, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Actually, in the last month or so, Princess ran a promotion offering reduced deposit and there may have been other savings too BUT there was a provision that it was no deposit refund if cancelled. Now may be that changing dates would be ok. Myself and several others were surprised to see Princess doing this as it reeked of Carnival's "early saver" fare which has big strings attached. Princess does charge a cancellation fee in the U.K. which is equal to the deposit. Irritatingly you cant "upgrade" to another room either without having to cancel and rebook .. grrrr
