Anniversary

Yes, we did this for our 35th Anniversary. It was wonderful. On the Princess site you can go to the area for special occasions where there are two different packages to choose from. We chose the less expensive one and I think it was about $200 dollars five years ago. I had the most beautiful orchid bouquet and DH had a rose boutinerre (sp?). The Captain conducted the ceremony which included just us, our daughter and her family. It was held in the wedding chapel on the first formal night. DH surprised me with an emerald and diamond ring. I was shocked. The more expensive package included massage/spa treatments and some other things. We got roses in the room and champagne.

Good Morning,

Can anyone tell me if they have had their wedding vows renewed and how this works? Any other ideas or tips pertaining to this will help?

Hi Sandee,

DW & I renewed our vows (30th Anniversary for us!) on the Regal in 2004. It was great. Flowers, pictures, and a small private ceremony officiated by the captain. We became friends with another couple at our MDR table (traditional dining) and they stood in as our "attendants". All in all, a very special experience. I highly recommend it!

This may be more info than you need, but here goes.

All the arrangements are made by an events coordinator - one of the pursar's staff and ours was terrific. We asked for our door to be decorated and on our anniversary day, it was. You walk in together. The Captain is waiting for you and greets you at the podium. We did an exchange of rings as well.

You'll get a letter sent to your cabin with all the details and then after the ceremony you'll get a copy of the vows as well as a certificate signed by the Captain.

We did the $205 package (this was in 2006) and it included my bouquet, DH's boutonnière, champagne, two champagne glasses, a formal portrait, a ships photographer to record the whole thing...and I may be forgetting something...

The vow renewal is usually done on sea days/formal nights in the early evening before the Captain's Welcome Party or Captain's Circle Parties.

We sailed just the two of us and met some wonderful people onboard the Star, and ended up inviting about 15 of them to our "wedding"(one member of the cruise staff stood up for me and an entertainer from The Wheelhouse stood up for Bruce); we laughingly said that this time we were inviting "who we wanted to". Two other couples wanted to "take" us to dinner the night before and we laughingly called it our rehearsal dinner - it was so much fun.

The next day we met all of invitees in The Wheelhouse Bar for cocktails and then we were escorted (en mass) to the Hearts and Minds wedding chapel for the ceremony.

With the time change taken into account - our vow renewal took places exactly 25 years to the hour that we were married. It was very emotional and very special.

We plan on renewing our vows on the Golden. When I call Princess to ask about it, all that was said above is true. Except it is now a group cermony, so if there is more than one couple on your cruise you all are done together.

Thank You so much for sharing your renewal vows information and pictures with us. They were very nice. Do they take the pictures and do they provide a video?

Thanks Again,

Sandee

Sandee,

There will be a photographer taking photos of your renewal. If I remember correctly you get 1 or 2 as part of the Anniversary Package then you have the option of buying the others. I would guess that a videographer would be an additional fee and something that you may have to arrange yourself.

Also if you want your friends at home to see it - ask them to turn on the Wedding Cam and tell your friends when to tune in. ;)

We're going to do our Renewal of Vows for our 25th Anniversary on the Ruby in March 2012 and would love to have our family be able to watch.

The bridge cams I've looked at all renew the picture at 5 minute intervals (i.e. they're not truly streaming live).

Do the Wedding Cams stream live? -

Sharon,

Thank you so much for the information on the renewal of vows. I was thinking of doing this on our Hawaii cruise in 2012 for our 20th anniversary. Looking at your lovely pictures has really helped me make up my mind to plan on it!

Cheryl
