Partyatsea Posted August 4, 2010 Author #2 Share Posted August 4, 2010 Nobody has any info on the hitting cage? Does Epic actually have one or was it another thing dropped after the initial literaure was released?

time2cruise1 Posted August 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 4, 2010 Maybe they are not there but on Day 2 Eastern Dailies...........................4:00PM Batting Practice........Sports Court That makes sense since the sports court is in fact a cage. Same space they use for basketball, skating, and I guess for batting pratice at different times.
UK_Cruiser Posted August 4, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 4, 2010 That makes sense since the sports court is in fact a cage. Same space they use for basketball, skating, and I guess for batting pratice at different times. And it is fully covered on top with a net I think. Caligirl33 Posted August 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2010 My Daughter is a fastpitch softball pitcher and when we cruise, she and hubby use the sport court to get her pitching practice in. Can't wait to see what they "batting cages" are like.....

Caligirl33 Posted August 4, 2010 #9 Share Posted August 4, 2010 My hubby thinks it will be nothing compared to what we are used too. Thinks it will probably be a waste of time. I will let you kow when we get back!

sdmike Posted August 4, 2010 #11 Share Posted August 4, 2010 There are no batting cages. They might set something up like the do for ice skating on the sports court, but I never saw anything.
josh35b Posted August 5, 2010 #12 Share Posted August 5, 2010 I noticed they were in the dallies a couple days and I had every intention of make it up there to participate but something always came up. I was assuming they set them up on the basketball court. I have no idea whether it's softball or baseball or fast pitch or what not. Sorry I don't have more info. Caligirl33 Posted September 6, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 6, 2010 There ARE batting cages. They are only set up on port days so my daughter did not use them. I spoke to a couple of crew members who said they only open then while in port to keep the use down. They feel that there would be too much interest if they opened them during "sea time"
polarbear36 Posted September 6, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 6, 2010 Pasting from my cruise notes: The batting practice on the sports court is real. They only do it on port days from 11 or so until 1, so I only was able to check on it when we went to Cozumel the second time. They have batting helmets, and the bats were 32 in/22 oz. aluminum. The pitching machine was set to “as slow as it could be to get it to the batter in the air,” maybe 50-55 mph. Wasn’t that hard for this slow pitch softball player to get in some good cuts. (end paste) I know they exist, first hand. If you want it bad enough to cut short your time in a port, it will be there, likely with no waiting. NewHere Posted September 7, 2010 #15 Share Posted September 7, 2010 Batting Cages are set up on the sport court from 11-1 on port days. They're not impressive, but are better than the plastic they throw down for 'ice skating'
