mikjr Posted August 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2010 We are booked on the QV in Feb 2011 for R/T Hawaii. We have room 6151 which is at the curve of the bulk head of the ship. It looks like the room and balcony are bigger. Has anyone had experience with similar rooms?? Are they larger?
Ray66 Posted August 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2010 I believe the room is slightly larger and your curved balcony will be rather overlooked like this one. I notice that it is forwarded facing so it could be a bit windy.
Pikkewyn Posted August 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2010 We had Cabin 7098 on QV for a med cruise in 2008. Cabin 7098 is one deck up and on the port side (whereas 6151 is starboard) but it is the mirror image of cabin 6151 and is basically the same. We really didn't enjoy being SO EXPOSED to the weather and to our neighbours (above, below and on the same deck). There is very little privacy on these balconies. We felt we couldn't walk out to our railing without first having to make sure that we were completely dressed and decent, as we knew that we will be on display to our neighbours, and have no wind protection as the balcony is forward facing too. The cabin itself is larger than the "normal cabins" and very pleasant. The shape and layout of the cabin is the same as all the others except it has a triangular area/extension as you go towards the balcony. Also the door to the balcony is at 45 degrees to the room so you cant lie on your bed and look out to sea. We will never book a cabin like this again but others may love the odd shape and a little bit of extra space in the cabin, and not be worried about being exposed. We were thrilled to get the cabin at the time of booking but weren't happy after experiencing the disadvantages and wished we had gone for a more "normal" cabin. Its "different stokes for different folks" so I m sure others love these cabins, but we love the in hull cabins on QM2 the best as they are private and protected. If we ever travel on QV again it will be in a standard D category. (we absolutely love QM2 and have decided keep with her whenever possible) Regards :)
NewEnglander23 Posted August 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2010 We had 7098 on out Oct 09 Med. Cruise and LOVED it! So much so that we would only book that type again, although very tricky! The extra room in the cabin was nice for all our our things, and we loved the bigger balcony. It really is personal preference. Have fun!
