karylrocks Posted September 19, 2010 #26 Share Posted September 19, 2010 Does this hotel charge for parking or have additional fees charged by the hotel if we booked through Priceline?
Kramer995 Posted September 19, 2010 #27 Share Posted September 19, 2010 Thanks for all of the info! The Yerba Buena sounds like the perfect choice! I hope some of the restaurants are opened on New Years Day. That is the only drawback! :-)
Podie Posted September 19, 2010 #28 Share Posted September 19, 2010 Most of the hotels in the area seem to charge $16 per day for parking.
RUDIMAY1 Posted September 20, 2010 #29 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Is the hotel lounge a fun place? Music? Salsa dancing? Stay open late? Stayed in Marriots before and sometimes a little too mellow.
Mikensusanl Posted September 21, 2010 #30 Share Posted September 21, 2010 the lobby at the Stellaris is very lively at night on the weekends!!! Tijuana's down the street on Ashford to the left of the front of the hotel is a nice little place to eat.
RUDIMAY1 Posted September 24, 2010 #31 Share Posted September 24, 2010 How about the hotel's beach? If we are staying at the hotel do we have to pay for chairs and towels? Do they have them? I love the pool but GF loves the beach more.
Oaktree Posted September 24, 2010 #32 Share Posted September 24, 2010 Ocean can be a little rough, but nice beach for sitting. Towels and chairs are provided for hotel guests. If you are there on week-ends, there may be steel band or other music by the pool. Fun place!
drakes2 Posted September 25, 2010 #33 Share Posted September 25, 2010 No charge for towels and chairs at the beach/pool area but I believe there is a charge for the beach umbrella. If you are paying the resort fee, then part of that fee includes the umbrella. Ocean can be a little rough, but nice beach for sitting. Towels and chairs are provided forhotel guests. If you are there on week-ends, there may be steel band or other music by the pool. Fun place!

laedw Posted September 27, 2010 #35 Share Posted September 27, 2010 Thanks FRANKM $25 per night sounds good to me. After I got my confirmation # from Priceline I did call and told them I would like a ocean view room if available. I will also be sure to ask again at check in. I got an insolent representative when I called to request an upgrade. She told me to call Priceline.
RUDIMAY1 Posted October 3, 2010 #36 Share Posted October 3, 2010 i was just looking at yelp.com for restaurant reviews for our stay at the Marriot. One of the cafes was called Bebos and it sounded like cheap eats for breakfast. It sounds fairly close. Anybody eaten there? Are the streets easy to walk? Bad neighborhoods? Thanks to all. smurfm69 Posted October 5, 2010 #38 Share Posted October 5, 2010 Just booked the Marriott Stellaris for a 2 night pre cruise stay in May and got it for $105 per night! Looks like a great hotel and great area to stay.
Venusleo1 Posted October 8, 2010 #39 Share Posted October 8, 2010 Also just booked this hotel through Priceline for $110. My fiance is all about the pool, on trip advisor everyone keeps saying the pool is very shallow? Can anyone comment on this who has stayed here? Also, I heard some reviewers say the swim up bar wasnt open, does anyone have any experience with this? We are staying one night post cruise to have a un-wind relaxing pool day before out Bio-Bay tour that night so the pool is VERY important. Thanks! ctr1258 Posted October 10, 2010 #41 Share Posted October 10, 2010 We are staying here on our precruise, and just found out they don't offer a shuttle to the airport. Should this be a concern?
orquidia Posted October 10, 2010 #42 Share Posted October 10, 2010 none of the hotels located in san juan offer shuttle service to the airport. only those resorts outside san juan's metropolitan area (1 hour or more from SJ) offer shuttle service. ctr1258 Posted October 10, 2010 #43 Share Posted October 10, 2010 Okay, so my next question would be, does anyone know how much I can expect to pay a taxi to take us to the airport from the hotel?
WaggesAZ Posted October 11, 2010 #44 Share Posted October 11, 2010 We were there earlier this year,in March. We took a taxi from the airport to the cruise terminal and it was $19 (for the group of 4-not per person) and $1 per bag. SJ is broken up into Zones, so it may be a little less, as the hotel is closer than the pier. It was very easy to catch a taxi. When you go outside the terminal, there is a taxi stand, you tell them how many and where you are going, and they get you on your way. IMHO it is organized and efficient. In March 2011, we will be staying at the Marriott Stellaris. If you go sooner, would you please post on this thread your feedback on the property? Thank you in advance! Safe travels to you... dvan68 Posted October 11, 2010 #45 Share Posted October 11, 2010 We love this property! We have stayed there before our PR cruises, and have spent a week for a land vacation. The pool is not set up for doing laps or anything - the deepest it goes is 6 ft. So you can go underwater - but no diving. The beach is lovely, but the waves are rough - this is the Atlantic - not the Caribbean. The sand is a little rough, but no problem for bare feet. The lobby is rocking on the weekend - live salsa music, and dancing - the casino is next door. late night - check out the Chinese food in the casino! Tapas in the lobby are wonderful as well. Yerba Buena is very good - excellent Mojitos! Starbuck's across the street is conveinant. Hope that helps!
Jaxsonbrownie Posted October 11, 2010 #46 Share Posted October 11, 2010 Just stayed here on 9/24.... Beautiful property, close to everything. We commented on how nice it would be to stay here for a land vacaction! Staff is so friendly, the lobby was awesome to sit, relax, and watch all the salsa dancing, as there was a great live band there on that Saturday night. We asked when we checked in, if we could upgrade to ocean view or pool view, and got a great room for a $25 a night upgrade. ( Bought the room on Priceline for $110 a night) We seemed to be handing out $20 for taxi's. ($14-19) most of the time. In front of the hotel, there always were a few taxis parked out there. In fact, when we landed at SJU, we had our luggage, and had a taxi within 10 minutes, and were on our way to the hotel, about 10 minutes away. Here are couple of shots from our balcony...
