Best tours in Grand Caymen & Cozumel?

Recommended Posts

My husband & I leave on Sept 5th on Freedom of the Seas to celebrate 15 years of Bliss. I have booked Dunn River Falls through Phil Lafayette for Jamaica, we are going to lay low on Labadee, but have not made firm decisions about the other 2 stops.

I know I want to swim with the sting rays. Is it better in Cozumel or Grand Caymen?

Any advice would be helpful!

Thanks

Jessica

I'd suggest Cayman. They take you to Stingray City which is a cove that doesn't have a lot of waves. You stand on a sandbar to see the stingrays. Very nice calm experience.

and no Steve Irwin moments.

When we went to Cozumel the first time we took the tour of Tulum which was awesome if you're into history. It's a six hour tour, however, so rather long. Take along a bathing suit under your clothes; the beach at Tulum is wonderful and unspoiled.

I echo Stingray City while at Grand Cayman. We had a great tour with Captain Marvin. When I researched this, Moby Dick and Stingray Sailing also got great reviews. My decision was based purely on the type of boat that each tour uses since I wanted plenty of shade for my DD who sunburns easily. Check out the port boards for a lot more info.

When in Grand Cayman we had booked a jet ski trip on-line with Ebanks watersports and certainly were not disappointed.

At first we were worried it would be another follow the leader jet ski experience but our party of four were escorted through a narrow waterway and basically shown the direction that we would need to travel in and off we went. It was a blast and we certainly were well cared for.

Even held the stingrays and at first we were very apprehensive since the Steve Irwin accident had just happened, but rest assured we were educated by our guide and learned it was just a freak happening.

Check them out on-line and say hi to Shawn for me.

Enjoy!

We did the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Definitely a better place to see them. (I wasn't aware that they had a stingray excursion in Cozumel?)

We went with Capt. Bryan. They have a catamaran and a liquor llicense, so they have a cash bar for rum punch and beer on the way to the other sites and on the way back in. Since there are many stingray tour operators, that was the deciding factor for us. Wonderful experience. :D:):D

Snorkel with the rays in GC...we have always used Nativeway Water Sports when there.

For Cozumel, we love Nachi Cocum. It's a "resort" that has a pool and a hot tub. You get your own waiter for the day, chair and umbrella. You get all the drinks you could possible drink and one appetizer, one entree, and one desert. All this for $50pp. We've been when it was very quite and relaxing with not many people and we've been where there were a lot of kids, so you don't know what you'll get, but we still love it.

We have also rented jeeps and driven around the island in Cozumel and have enjoyed this also.

The helicopter tour was amazing in GC
I bet that was impressive. We did this in Hawaii and it is truly amazing to see the island from above.

My DH and I did a scoop coupe excursion in Cozumel. Three wheeled vehicles, you go around the island, make 3 stops. Two of which are at small resturant/bar beach areas. We enjoyed it. It was about 4 hours long and I believe it was about $45pp through the cruiseline.
