Coralc Posted September 6, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2010 Royal Caribbean does not permit clothes irons to be brought onboard. Steamers were removed from the list of prohibited items, and should be allowed. Carnival has a different prohibited items list. :)
seaweavers Posted September 6, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2010 I have brought a clothes steamer on before for my wedding with no problem. I do not see it on the prohibited list. Heidi
kyriecat Posted September 6, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2010 They aren't on the prohibited list, but ChipsLondon posted that they were confiscating steamers on Oasis a couple of weeks ago. Someone else posted on the same thread that they were taking steamers from luggage but allowing passengers to buy steamers on Oasis. I guess you can't bring your own but you can buy one from RC? Not sure what would happen if you try to bring one onboard that you purchased from RC on a previous cruise. Rare Shippy Posted September 6, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 6, 2010 .....I actually bought it on the Mariner of the Seas last year !
algorithmannie Posted September 6, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2010 Have you considered bringing Downy Wrinkle Release Spray? I've had very good luck with it... even on formal clothes. There's also the "hang your clothes in the bathroom and run hot water in the shower" trick.
nana541 Posted September 6, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 6, 2010 Ya know some steamers actually look like irons and I wonder if that is what is getting removed from luggage!:(
Rare Shippy Posted September 7, 2010 #12 Share Posted September 7, 2010 Ya know some steamers actually look like irons and I wonder if that is what is getting removed from luggage!:( I bought the steamer last year after going to the 'naughty room' because I had an iron in my luggage. They see it with the xray. When I got there, the luggage strap was still around my bag. You are asked to open it because they do not want to be accused if something else is missing. It was a small travel iron. If they had been wrong & it was something else, they would have just let it go. They delivered it to my room on the last night. That was a year ago. I do not think they do that any more. When we just got off the Mariner the other day, there was a table full of irons where you collect your luggage at the port.
